Has Belethor dropped human trafficking?

Post » Sun Jul 29, 2012 5:25 pm

I have noticed in my game, that for some time now, I have not heard Belethor make his once so common remarks of being willing to sell his own relatives or offering to buy mine.

I just wonder if he has permanently tidied up his business practices, and if that has been an intentional change,

Molag Bal decided to come into his store finally and bought all of them so he can "dominate" them.

Maybe he realized you weren't interested in the trade. :P

I have been hoping a thead like this would be made for the last few weeks.

In my current game, Belethor is completely toned down. When I finish trading with him, he usually says "If there's anything else you need, let me know" and other friendly lines to that effect. He says that sarcastic "Dooo come baaack" only very rarely now. At first I was sure I must be imagining this change in him, but I trade with him so often that it's become clear he's had a personality transplant.

I wonder if they changed something in a patch, or if some of us just get lucky on certain playthroughs where Belethor's dialogue cycle becomes bearable? It's weird - he's not even on my Top Five Most Annoying Skyrim NPCs list anymore, so something had to have changed..

To be honest, if they completely eliminated those remarks from Belethor, I would find the game to be a bit poorer because of it.

They were highly annoying when repeated at each encounter, but coming out just occasionally, and relatively seldom at that, they would kind of be in line with his character.

I actually wonder, if the civil war, which does adjust some merchant dialogue once the battle of Whiterun is over, could also have a hand in this. I couldn't tell, because I have only one playthrough, which is currently pretty close to being complete.

Maybe he realized you weren't interested in the trade.
Well, he doesn't actually have a sister, or so he claims, but at any rate I never saw one, so I wouldn't really know about that.

Come to think of it, he has been a little more toned down in my game as well recently. I don't think it has anything to do eith patches, since I still have 1.5 (and I'm sure he offered to sell my relatives after that patch).

Either it's just different random lines that show up in different playthroughs, or - could it have to do with the Stormcloaks taking Whiterun? I think the diffeference in tone might have coincide pretty much with that, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure his bad jokes and sarcasms are completely gone, either, I haven't spent much time in Whiterun lately - gotta go there and check.

That reminds me... if I had a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sigurd, I'd fire him in a second.

I think he's just joking.

He doesn't have a sister. I'm sure he wouldn't be the sort to sell her.

Yes, of course the whole thing is a big, bad joke. But where has it gone? And has it in fact gone?
