I know it's a video game and what not. But I find it kinda sad that the people in Skyrim are more excepting to same six marriage. Than what people in real life are.

I think the marriage system in general is pretty weak. I know marriage isn't supposed to be as dedicated in Skyrim as it is in real life, but going "Thanks for giving me [insert random crap], let's get married!" feels a bit shallow. I suppose they all secretly want to get dragonboned by the Dovahkiin.

I have yet to marry anyone in the game, and I don't think I ever will.

How about having kids? And can I divorce my spouse? What about domestic abuse? If I beat my spouse will the guards show up???

I swear... why do people want video games to be so much like REAL LIFE? I play to escape life, not emulate it...

You do realize that only a tiny minority of Earth's population accept same-six marriage, right?
The perversity and intolerance inherent in Skyrim's marriage system is that very few of Earth's cultures accept same-six marriage while the majority of Earth's cultures accept (and in fact idealize) polygamy.
Which brings us to:
How about Polygamy?
No.
Polyandry is not allowed either.
Polyandry is polygamy, just fyi. The gender specific varieties of polygamy are polyandry (multiple husbands, exceedingly rare) and polygyny (multiple wives, very common).

All that nagging and complaining, its no wonder men don't live as long as women.

1. A statement like that will get you a warning by a moderator so I'd suggest not to throw that around so casually
2. For some people it is an escape, whether or not its linear to real life doesn't matter. If its a way to immerse themselves into the game then so be it.

Polygyny (multiple wives) has a long-standing tradition in human history, especially among the ruling classes. Probably because one woman can only pump out about one baby per nine months, so if a monarch wanted a huge number of descendents, he needed multiple wombs at his command. Same-six pairings are also nothing new, they were commonplace in ancient Greece (usually involving men and boys). What's relatively new is the concept of actually calling it "marriage". Even civil unions are new, for most of its history, same gender pairings have been unofficial in nature. It was there, people just didn't talk about it, often due to anti-sodomy laws.

All marriageable characters in Skyrim are totally bisixual. Depending on the player's race, they might have some pretty funny tastes as well (anyone for a little Khajiit-Orc nookie?)
