1st PC build, SSD's and secondary HDD questions

Post » Mon Jul 30, 2012 9:41 am

I just finished my first PC build http://pcpartpicker.com/b/xoR. I have an 256g SSD for my OS and my games. I also have my old internal HD as a secondary drive. I didn't reformatt the old HD so I still have Steam, Skyrim and all my other games and modding tools on it.

A few questions: How should I go about setting things up to play Skyrim and other steam games for that matter without having steam on my SSD? I have already downloaded http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover to easily move whatever I'm currently playing to the SSD.

I do alot of modding so what is the best way to continue using programs like Wrye Bash, BOSS, and NMM? Will those operate from the secondary drive?

How do I currently go about handeling the saves? Should I move those to the SSD? I am able to launch Skyrim and some other games but it's not finding my saves on my secondary drive.

I guess what I'm needing is some pointers on the best way to utilize what I have.

While I did learn alot building this PC I would still consider myself somewhat of a rookie when It comes to my knowledge of SSD's, RAID (dont even know what that is), tweaking the mobo ect. I do have alot of reading to do but any helpful tips or adivice from the community would be appreciated.
