Skyrim main quest glitched on me, cannot complete it. HELP M

Post » Mon Jul 30, 2012 5:06 am

I am doing the main quest of Skyrim and during the quest: The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller, I have to learn the Word of Power from Wulfgar. When I go up to him and press X to speak to him to learn the final word, he glitched out and only waves his hands in the air for a second and doesn't say anything, which prevents me from learning the final word. I thought this wouldn't be a big deal so I left, only to come back and find out that I HAVE to learn the third word to continue the quest. Is there anything that anyone could help me with this to finish the quest??

The only things I can think to do are pretty standard. Your best bet is to reload to a save prior to that point, no matter how far back. I'd try that first. Past that, you don't actually have to talk to them for them to teach you the word, try standing back and seeing if he is going to speak the word on the ground, you might just be interfering with him. As a final act of desperation, I do not know if you can turn the Graybeards hostile or not, but try attacking him. Get him to drop to his knees and if they become hostile, run away or use a calm spell/scroll and see if he will then teach you the word.

Past that, there isn't anything you can do really, at least to my knowledge. Also, this thread should probably go in the support thread. Good luck with this man!

I loaded from my last save when it first happened and didn't do anything. I also tried on my boyfriend's disk and he was able to complete the quest, but I am not. I already tried everything you posted and nothing is happening. I go up to him to speak to him and press X, but he says nothing and waves his arms for a second and stops.

So you are just saying that with the SAME SAVE GAME you can do it in another machine? Weird!!!

Hmmm, well that blows. As I said, those are the only things I can think to do to fix it. I guess the only option you have left might be to restart. From what you posted initially, you are obviously playing on the PS3. Of all the platforms this game is on, the PS3 is notoriously the most glitched, so maybe this is specific to that platform. Anyways, I'm sorry to hear you ran into a game breaking glitch already that early in the Main Quest, but hopefully you haven't been playing that long, so it won't be a huge loss. :(

No, he was able to do the quest on his account with his Skyrim disk, and when I put in his disk to try to complete my quest I was still unable to.

Well, I remember some similar mess happened to me.
I was playing slowly... I decided to start the main quest, I was... level 40 or close.
Then, When I reached the word wall... nothing happened. I just cant learn the damn words.
No matter how far behind I loaded, does not work. I cleaned the saves and restarted. Is the only and last bug I have in my 3 gameplays of Skyrim.
But well, those things happens.

As I said, It must be due to a bad savegame. When a save game gets corrupt in some point, all the next saves are corrupted too. But is hard to guess in wich point it was broken.

Incorrect. I am playing on an xbox 360. And yes, I avoided the main quest for awhile and am leveled up high enough to not want to start over. I am super pissed right now if this is unfixable.

May be redundant, but you tried restarting the console? Testing not just one, but various previous saved games?
At last, to try to save some time.
But I know how you feel.

The problem is not the disk.
The problem is some mergent bug in one of your save games. And that just happens.
The options are: Find a save prior to the failure... or start again.

I know there are codes you can put in to complete the quest, but I only heard that for PC. Hopefully they can provide something that will allow me to complete this quest.
