What level were you when you fought the first dragon?

Post » Mon Jul 30, 2012 4:50 pm

My Dark Elf Thief/Assassin is level 24 and I still have not fought the first dragon, I haven't done anything with the main quest line since leaving Helgen. My Dark elf is to busy robbing everyone and helping out the Thieves guild.

It depends, lately I've been doing it at higher and higher levels. My current character just killed it at 67.

Depends on the character, lowest lvl 1, highest lvl 12. I like to get the MQ started as early as possible if the character is going to be doing it.

My wood elf did at like level 8 or something.

My Khajiit (who i just started. He is only level 1), i plan on making him never kill a single Dragon. I am dedicating him fully to RP, unlike my Wood Elf who just did everything. My two characters will exist within the same universe, with the Khajiit's story taking place shortly after the Dragon Crisis

Ra'Khacharr (current) was at level 44 I skipped over doing the MQ and started the Companions and such. My shortest was at 4 or 5 and that was my first character.

I all ways get the first Dragon around level 6 or 7.

Question, why do so many people dislike the main quest? I like that a dragon might swoop down on my non combat thief and I have to run for my life. If I have a combative character (9 out of 10 characters I make) I get the dragons to spawn before I start "playing" my characters role.

On my first character as lvl 3 I believe. I think I leveled up to 4 in middle of combat.

On warrior characters its usually fairly low leveled, like maybe 6 or 8, rarely after 10. On stealth characters its usually 14-20, it seems stealth levels up really quickly (doesn't help i use the archery trainer to get free lessons) and i'm just now starting a pure mage character with no armor or back up weapon so i'll have to see on him

My very first game, about level 8-10 (it was a long time ago). That one wasn't so bad because you have support. But my first solo dragon was at level 12, and that was a nightmare. These days I seldom trigger that part of the MQ below level 25.

My first character slew his first dragon around level 50, I didn't start the Main Quest until then.

My current character will never start the Main Quest or the Civil War quest. I always find that the world in TES games are more interesting before you start these major questlines.
Question, why do so many people dislike the main quest?
Because the MQ brings

dragon attacks. And dragons are Cliff Racers crossbred with Oblivion Gates. I hate the things - they're not really hard to beat, but they annoy you by popping up everywhere again and again and again, and they may kill innocent bystanders (may Arkay guide the souls of those 2 farmers east of Whiterun, as I was too slow to save them...).

I liked the dragon attacks in the beginning, but after the 20th one they had lost their awesomeness and just became a regular annoyance. As I said, I really hate the things! :D

I like starting main quest early, somewhere between 3 to 15. I like fighting dragons and having shouts. Yes, I imagine the game would be fine without shouts, but shouts are so cool and fun to use. Having an NPC die to dragon attack is sad and frustrating, but I can usually prevent it from happening.

First playthrough of the game I purposely stayed away from the main quest and was in my level 50's before I saw my first dragon after Alduin.
