Okay so I am going to make a nord who is a warrior who originally left Skyrim in his youth to join the imperial legion. After a few years of fighting in the legion, Tyr Snow-Mane (named after Norse god of war and justice), returns to find that most of his clan has died, having been slaughtered by the Thalmor for the worship of Talos and for their shared bloodline with the Champion of Cyrodiil of old. On his way into skyrim, he is caught up with an ambush that was laid for the stormcloaks. Being recognized by Elenwen as a Snow-Mane, she secretly commands the imperial officer in charge of the executions to go ahead and kill Tyr, despite him not being part of the rebellion. Escaping Helgen, Tyr learns of his family's deaths, setting out for revenge while also trying to figure out what the return of the dragons means.

Now that you know all that, any tips on a build and any comments on the backstory would be appreciated. Sword and board or two-hand? Stuff like that, remember that this guy is an ex legionnaire but also a nord

Well, Imperial soldiers tend to use One Handed swords, and possibly shields, so there's that.

All three Nord Legates in the game use one handed swords.
