Post » Thu Aug 02, 2012 3:44 pm

so all us console users have been hearing about pc and their mods, and i, that 1 amazing person, thinks that we console users should get a creation kit too, i would be willing to pay 10 moneys for it too, and i think at least ps3 users should get it because we got nothing and we r 2 patches behind every1 too, and mind me the game is really buggy like, my armor doesnt protect me, enchantments dont work, vampires attacking even though i dont have dawnguard

Mods can't be put on a console due to limitations from Microsoft/Sony, and lack of ordering tools and access to the core files. The Creation Kit is more intensive than the game to run, and it needs a keyboard and mouse as it's a proper non user friendly developer program. Your Xbox/PS3 is not powerful enough to run it.

The Creation Kit isn't some simple Halo map maker that's part of the game. It's a fully fledged, professional tool the developers used to make the game.

I'm all for this, but it won't happen for Skyrim. The CK is part of the dev tools, for one. Skyrim would have had to have its own console versions of the CK built right into the console versions to begin with. I could see something like inFAMOUS 2's mission maker being a blueprint for something like this.

also dragonflies and fishes... getting intimate(i guess thats the sixual content in the game?), mammoths falling out of the sky, normal bandits killing lvl 74 character in 1 hit with iron weapons, random npcs appear out of nowhere right in front of u, and lots more trust me i just dont have the time to write them all down, and thats y console users should have a creation kit, especially ps3...

You"d have better luck getting console commands. Theres quite a few reasons why either console cant run it as stated above.

This, plus, Sony/Microsoft will never allow it, they don't believe the idea of so much content getting added too the game for free. Aside from that, just like the post above said, it is IMPOSSIBLE to do.

The Construction Set wasn't for console Morrowind, the newer Construction Set wasn't for console Oblivion, and the Creation Kit won't be for console Skyrim. Console commands, they could maybe get to work, but they've never done that before, and I doubt they ever will.

If they did, who knows how many times your game will freeze on consoles...

As has already been said, not going to happen. It's unfortunate but this is one of the downsides of console gaming. Todd did say they wanted to brings mods to the PS3/Xbox but it wasn't looking like they'd be able to get it done. I suspect this may change next generation, but for now you'll have to just grin and bear it.

Won't happen with this generation of consoles, maybe not even the next.

Though maybe something close to "cheat codes" would be possible. Not to "mod" in new armor or Deadly Dragon's, but to enable someone who is stuck to be able to enter the code and it either "fixes" the problem or just pushs past it. BoTI is a perfect example of a place where "cheat codes" or console commands would be very helpful. Maybe through the on-line stores? IDK... S and Ms probably wouldn't allow it.

You'd have a better bet opting for cheat codes like Infinite magic, health, no gravity, ect. That's something definitely do-able.

It's against Microsoft's Code of Conduct/Terms of Use to modify the console, I do not know about Sony, but I believe it is similar.

lol your probably right.

That's why I don't try and do everything with one character, small thing's, 1 or 2 questlines and then major exploreing and dungeon diveing. For me that has worked the only "game breaking" glitch I've had was a lvl 43 character in the middle of MQ. I have had smaller and pretty anoying glitches and bug's, but nothing like what alot of others have had.

Although that would be awesome, the current generation of consoles just don't have the power to run it. Maybe the round of consoles will be different, but by then I hope to be rockin a PC.

Didn't Todd want to add mods onto console? I know Microsoft and Sony wouldn't allow it, but I know for a fact that the next-gen consoles could probably handle it. Of course, it'd need its own separate CD, but it would be doable. You could plug-in a keyboard and the controller could very well work as a mouse. But yeah, it won't happen moreso because of the console companies themselves than Bethesda simply not wanting to do it.

Using mods is different to making mods.

The CK is what they made the game with. While some effort is made to make it more accessible (the CK wiki for example), it's still a developers toolkit written for the PC version of the game. It's not possible to have that functionality on a console.

Yeah, I realized that the CK you use on PC is the toolkit for the PC version itself, but I doubt it'd be that tedious to do the same thing with whatever they made the console version with. Of course I'm pulling [censored] out of my ass as I am no console game developer and I have no idea what their tools in that regard look like.

They made the game for the PC with the CK, then ported it to consoles. It's not worth their time to make a gimped CK for use on the actual consoles.

Both the PC and console versions were made with the CK.
