Lydia won't equip armor

Post » Fri Aug 03, 2012 2:24 am

My follower Lydia will not equip armor. I don't recall having this problem prior to the 1.7 patch that I know of. I started a new character after the patch and this is when I started to notice she will not equip gear I give her. I am on pc, can someone please explain, or help with this?

Thanks

Which armor are you trying to give her?

All of those have a lower armor rating than her default Steel armor. That's probably the issue there.

Gah! This makes perfect sense. I was trying to deck her out in Imperial Leather.. but she refused to wear any of it.

Thanks!

P.S. your avatar is terrifying

If your on the PC, go to Nexus and dl the follower mod. It allows you to set followers to essential or non-essential. to take damage from you and not get pissed off. and to wear what ever you tell them to. You could have Lydia running around in a tavern dress if you wanted. Or imperial leather thats not as strong as her steel armor.

If you want to have her equip a light armor then you will need to improve it at the bench (before giving it to her) and make sure it's stats are higher than her default armor.

Doesn't matter, followers only see to the base value.

I have sighted this mod a while ago. Using it, I've realized that it's out of this world.
...now excuse me, I'm off to punish myself for making these puns.

Of course, I recommend the mod to all.

It's one of these mods which makes vanilla game unplayable ( along with many others ).

This could either mean

1. It's a great mod and once you use it you won't want to go back, or

2. It is a poorly designed mod that will introduce a vast number of bugs

I think you mean (1), but just checking.

Thats the mod I use.

Don't see myself uninstalling it any time soon. Whats cool with it is you can even perminantly remove your follower's default armor so they never wear it again.

Ditto. I don't even use most of the features on a regular basis but having complete control of a follower's inventory is worth the price of admission. That and the ability to put them in relax mode indefinitely, I can leave one of them just chillin' in one of my homes while I take care of some business on my own and then drop by and pick them up again without having to hunt them down.

For those who want to try it out, PAY STRICT ATTENTION TO THE INSTALL/UNINSTALL DIRECTIONS given on the Nexus page for it. Particularly if you need to uninstall and reinstall for some reason, if you don't "deactivate" the mod from within the game itself before disabling it in your mod manager you will have problems. Also need to be wary of accidentally installing/uninstalling when you still have followers actively following you, it can be easy to lose track what with the multiple follower options and being able to leave them chilling somewhere for long periods of time without actually releasing them.
