why pickpocketing is a good skill

Post » Fri Aug 03, 2012 2:16 pm

My khajiit recently reach 100 in pickpocketing, so he took the perfect touch perk.
With my newfound skill, I couldn't help but notice how hot everyone looked standing around the market all day. Now, I'm proud to say the world is a better place, with minimal heat strokes. Guards, merchants, rich and poor alike, all naked. Then, I began giving people weapons that they shouldn't be using (eg: grannie Maven with a steel battleaxe) then dropped a few items around to start a fight. So, Riften is now a giant, naked brawl pit.

Moral of the story: Pickpocketing is the best skill in the game.

Any other tales of horror to tell thanks to pickpocket?

Hmm, perhaps I should go about this strategy to make sure Ysolda looks good naked before marrying her...

My favorite move involving pickpocketing, I am ashamed to say never even occured to me. It is pure art.

Just finished playing through the DB questline with my illusionist/thief.

1. Plant a powerful Daedric dagger on Vici's husband.
2. Quietly eliminate the guy who stands behind them during the speech.
3. Wait unseen until Vici begins her speech.
4. Cast Fury on husband.

Result: Vici is brutally gutted by her husband at her wedding reception (execution animation and everything) who is then torn apart by the rest of the wedding guests.

Bloody brilliant! Never could find any good reason to pickpocket (you get better loot if you kill than if you pickpocket) - but this...THIS...muahahaha!

Personally I don't see the need for a pickpocketing skill. That is something that easily could've been placed under the sneak skill...which would've freed up enough room for a more useful skill like acrobatics, or unarmed, or athletics, or...

I know, right? As an almost exclusive player of illusionist stealth assassins, when I read that for the first time, I hung my head in shame, not to have ever thought about it.

Sure, an option, but there's far more useful skills than pickpocketing. A pickpocket needs to be sneaky in order to be proficient in their desired profession. Having pickpocket as a skill seems a bit redundant and is better left as a sub-skill rather than one of it's own. Pickpocket could've easily had it's own branch in the sneak skill. There was really no point in removing some of the other skills aside from Bethesda just not wanting to [censored] with them.

I like to pickpocket armor and weapons off unsuspecting bandits. Then I engage them in a battle of fists. I can only imagine what is going through their minds. One moment they are fully equiped for battle, the next naked haha.

I love pickpocketing. I spend more perks in pickpocket than on smithing and enchanting combined. It's so much fun.
