Darker dark

Post » Sun Aug 05, 2012 11:22 pm

Is it just me or there's too much light at night? The difference of visibility between day and night should be bigger imo. I'm not trying to stir all sorts of astronomical explanations here, not debating if those big moons or whatever magic power this planet has could or could not make the nights so bright. I only wish to know if you would like the nights to be darker for immersion purposes.

And it's not just the open air, it's also the rooms, the basemants, the dungeons. Where's all that magic light coming from, I wish a torch was actually necessary to see anything in the places where there's no natural light or visible sources of light.

ENB.

But in most cases it's heavy on the performance, so I wouldn't recommend. Unless you have a really good PC.

OP, I suggest you look around some "realistic lightning" mods. I'm using http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13531/ one.

Yes I'll look to the mods although I have zero experience to install one and am afraid of losing my 200+ hours character. I'll probably wait until I start a new character before experimenting.

I agree about being too light indoors in many places, but (like you said), the two moons (Masser in gigantic) would make the nighttime reasonably bright.

I use (well, used, need to get it up again) a separate mod for DOF. What's SSAO, anyway?

Okay. I'm using that one. It looks like one that actually is appealing. Thank you for linking to it.

There's no reason to fear losing your character; just copy your save folder to someplace safe like desktop so you can revert if something goes wrong. If you use the NMM install with one of the lighting mods, it should be toally safe anyway.

I fully agree. Some dungeons look like shopping malls around here. And nightime too is overly bright, there's hardly any decrease in visibility. Apparently there's even a dev who agrees with us, the one who's created darker ambiances during the Game Jam. The excessive brightness is an effective way to kill any mood and suspense.

I use the slider in the display settings to make it darker.

Install nexus mod manger then go to the mod page and go the files tab on the mod you wants page on nexus and click the green "download with manger button" and open NMM go the mods tab and activate the mod easy.
