Not enough dovahkiin recognition

Post » Mon Aug 06, 2012 2:27 pm

The dovahkiin is the most important person in Skyrim, he has saved skyrim from destruction many times and helped so many others.
Yet he is treated like a normal person, if he kills a chicken, guards attack. If he tries to buy something, he pays full price.
I want to be treated like royalty, I want it to be brought up in every conversation. Bandits should beg for mercy. Townspeople should bow before me.
Yes I am this egotistic but still, he is not treated as he should be.
Opinions?

To quote TotalBiscuit "IM ARCHMAGE OF THE ENITRE UNIVERSE yet they still say "you have the look of a mage about you,you should join the collage" I agree but when I killed a dragon and everyone grouped around it and talked about what happend I was blown away......They forgot 2 minutes later but I was still blown away

It should be fair to expect discounts at stores and possibly very low prices for houses. I mean, I did just slay Alduin the World Eater.

That's something I'd brag about, the blades know what happened and everyone knows he's dovahkiin.

After not having enough racial and gender based recognition / treating, what did you expect?

On the other hand, even if I'm not Dragonborn (by not doing the MQ, therefore not absorbing the Dragon's soul) they still call me that.

Call me, but not treat me. Skyrim logic at its finest.

I agree.

I should be given a castle, and have a statue built in my honor at the center of every hold.

I expect nothing less for preventing Alduin from eating the world like a damned sweet roll.

No respect.

Is this any different in any of the other ES games?? In Oblivion you received some crappy armor (not even a seat in the elder council) In Morrowind you got nothing after defeating Dagoth (If I remember correctly).

Never played Morrowind, but at-least in Oblivion NPC's talked to you with respect and guards wouldn't even bother you if you had a high enough fame. That's the reason this is a problem in Skyrim, for some strange reason Bethesda decided not to include Fame/Infamy so therefore the game has no way to track how NPC's should react towards you.

In Oblivion, guards were in awe of you (It's you, the Hero of Kvatch! This is truly an honour!)

Heck, in Oblivion you even had a fan. You were literally worshipped.

lol yeah, but everyone killed him

But in Oblivion your character was also much more powerful then the Dragonborn, you literally become a god, not respecting that would be even more insane then not respecting the Skyrim character.

Not really. Finishing the MQ made you Champion of Cyrodiil, but that's just a title, no special powers. It was Martin that becomes a god, sort of... For a while at least...

I can see where you're coming from but I would hate that. And I think it's fairly realistic the way you don't get recognition. In an age without modern communications or even photography how would people know who you were?

Martin did mantle Akatosh so he is Akatosh in a way.

But you don't have to complete that dlc to get respect just finishing the MQ is enough (It's the hero of Kvatch, truly an honour, All hail the champion of cyrodiil, I'm honored to speak with the champion of cyrodiil)

Oh yeah. In that case, it's extremely underwhelming, I agree. But that's all of them. I'd rather not be a leader of a guild or the top of the food chain at all, than be one but be treated like nothing happened.

People know that you are Nerevarine and CoC in past games. This is 200 years later.

True but there are a lot of things from the past games that they haven't carried over into Skyrim.

This is 200 years later.

They still don't have tv.

Point? People know that you are nerevarine or CoC why not dragonborn? You said earlier that it's due limited technology, yet because the fact that you're CoC and Nerevarine are known, we know that it's possible 200 years earlier. Surely it will become even more advanced?

And technology do exist there are spacetravels since 2nd Era.

In oblivion there was a wanted poster of gray fox, granted it is a drawing but why can't they apply it in a newspaper or some sort? The book about pelinal depicts him in picture in Oblivion.
