Run the game without steam?

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 1:46 pm

Probably not possible, but can the game be run without steam running? So annoying to wait for Steam to load...
I thought there was a work around for fallout. Mods please lock this thread if this goes against the rules.

Open Steam and select "Offline" mode, from the pulldown in the top left corner.

EDIT : Sorry, I misread your post. Even then, Steam must still .load.

Steam's offline mode is a sham anyway.

How so? I'mean it launches Skyrim while...offline.

EDIT : This is really for discussion in the Steam thread...I think.

Running Steam offline works perfectly for me.

I don't notice it's there. It feels no different than running Morrowind or Oblivion, and is actually more convenient since I don't need to make sure I have the proper disc in the tray everytime I want to start the game.

It works fine for me as well. I live in a very rural area and internet connections are not very reliable. Thus Offline mode is paramount. It only takes 10 seconds for it to launch Skyrim.

Download nexus mod manager and skse . Then you can launch the skse version and it goes right into the game

It's a very noticeable issue. I live in Brazil and the ISPs from my area are absolutely atrocious. If you try and connect to Steam offline without being connected to the internet it simply won't work. Doesn't matter if you disconnect your wireless cables or save your password, it still won't. So, yeah. Google it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

And yeah, I'd say it's best to stay on topic.

Google is not needed. That is not true for me. I can completely shut down and disconnect from the internet and it still runs Skyrim.

I rest my case. This issue has been around since 2004 and Steam offline never worked properly. Therefore it is a sham because it doesn't work for the average user.

But...I am an average user. It works fine for me. I am sorry you are having problems.

How long does it take for Steam to load on your PC? Mine pops right up ready to go.

What I'm saying is that it's not just me. It is, unfortunately, a very common issue.
