Past voice actors?

Post » Tue Aug 07, 2012 10:52 am

Hey,

I was wondering why the the voice actors from the previous elder scrolls games (apart from e.g. Craig Sechler and Wes Johnson) aren't in Skyrim?

Is there any specific reason for it?

-> They didn't want to/ were busy at time of recording....?
-> Didn't fit in the 'darker theme' of Skyrim?
-> etc

Biggest question: Is it possible they will make a return in the future?

Thanks

I actually find it quite annoying that they used any past voices at all. It's really jarring to hear someone from Oblivion (Cyrodiil) and then 200 years later still hear the same voices. I don't understand why they wouldn't hire all new people myself. Not that I have any issue with the quality of the voice acting, but using the same voices just doesn't make sense. Bugs not withstanding, it's one of the very few annoyances I have with the game.

I guess it's just that the world feels so huge, but does not feel diverse at all. If that makes sense.

How can they be annoying when they're hardly there? :P

I don't think they should be everywhere, but give em atleast a few special characters or something like that.

I'm fine with the voice actors being in multiple games. If they're good, they should get the chance to do the role. I just finished a game of Fallout 3 and I didn't know Stephen Russel did some voices in the game but as soon as I heard him in FO3, I went "Belethor!" Jason Marsden is another favorite and now Popeye V....I really like his voice a lot. Wes Johnson should be in every game. :smile: :tes:

What do you mean by "hardly there" ? I seem to hear the same voices in every town.

I'm pretty sure nearly all of them are still in the game, heck ones from Morrowind seems to be returning as well.

Never played much Oblivion, but I definitely recognized Jason "Boone" Marsden. Still, his presence was welcome. Wish they could have found a way to bring back Liam Neeson...

Marsden never was in the elder scrolls before, neither was neeson. I think only 3 (or 4) are in skyrim (who were in the other ES)

Ugh, as long as they never bring back the Mercer Frey guy, I'll be happy.
