Saving vs Autosaves

Why exactly are autosaves so evil when it comes to having mods installed? And are quicksaves any better, if not then is there a way to make a quick-legitimate-save key?

I'm currently using http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17329, but I long for 50-60 cyclic saves...

Never rely on auto- or quick-saving for anything, not just Skyrim. The reason is that they keep overwriting the same data, increasing the chance for corruption. That's one of many reasons.

Can't you just add this to your Skyrim.ini

Me, I already treat Skyrim as I've long done with Oblivion. No quick/auto saves. I save solely via console command. That way I can give each save a unique descriptive title. Makes it easier to keep track of what I've done, where I'm headed and why I'm headed there. And has been pointed out, there is less chance of corruption.

Is it completely safe to save via console command then?

I used to create named saves for Oblivion this way, but for some reason something at the back of my mind keeps nagging me that it's not a good idea for Skyrim. Don't know where I got this thought from though, so it might just be my paranoia.

To be honest I have no idea. I do it simply because it works like a charm for me in Oblivion (and additionally I like the control unique names gives me). Likewise, quick and auto saves are frowned upon there. I've had Skyrim installed less than two weeks. That's not long enough to prove anything one way or the other. All I can say with any certainty is that nothing's gone amiss yet...so far as I know.

LIke Decrepit I use Unique names, Charactername_%date%_%time%. Then using a program called belvedere I have saves moved once the quantity exceeds 10 to another partition. This keeps the load page clean and I still have access to all the saves in a backup folder. I do this for most games I play for more than a week.

As long as you don't overwrite via the console save command, it's safe.
