Just kind of accentuates the fact that guilds / factions seem to exist in their own little world. You'd think General Tullius or Ulfric Stormcloak would be happy as a pig in filth to get the Harbinger of the Companions on their side, or the Archmage of the College.
I would have loved it if characters who wait with choosing sides in the war (or don't choose at all) were approached by both sides with repeatedly attempts to persuade them to join. Or bribes.
"Ok, Ulfric, so you'll give me free food, a place to stay, a brand new set of ugly bearskin armor and 3000 septims - btw, what do you intend to call the currency if Skyrim seceeds from the Empire? - if I join your cause. Let's see what Tullius says about that."
"Hey, Tullius, this is what Ulfric pays me if I join him - how about you throw in a Daedric sword as well, and we'll call it a deal?"
