It's even worse when you post something to show ones fandom then all the sudden for whatever reason the post you made turns you into a pariah for no reason. I've have this happen to me more then once <_<.

This happens to virtually every thread I make (except for the ridiculously controversial ones which get locked anyways). Yeah... I kind of stopped making threads a while back.

Only really make threads when something catastrophically goes wrong with a beth game, and I need help asap.

Internet forums are weird places. Sometimes an interesting topic gets a post or two and rolls down the forum. Sometimes a week or two later, a similar topic just happens to catch on and hit's a 100 posts in an hour or two.

Can't take it personally, and no one is really keeping track of how successful or not a thread might be, in terms of replies. :)

I'm basically ignored universally. Do I care, not really. I come here and read more than I actually post. Some days I post more, though that's when I've had a bit of liquid encouragement. :P

I guess I'm not ignored really, but I do find it annoying when I say something or make an observation and then a few posts later somebody else says the exact same thing and people reply to that post instead of mine. People tend to not read the entire thread most of the time.

Don't you just hate it when you wake up and someone throws a celebrity through your window and you're left with assault charges?

If you make a thread that you think contains a great idea that everyone will comment on, but then not a lot of people comment on it, then chances are you're a really poor judge of good ideas and of what people like to talk about.

No offense, frylock, but I feel like most of your threads are pretty awful. You need to set the bar higher for what you make a thread about.

ive learned that if i want to share a new and unique idea with people AND want them to agree with me, that i should not share that idea on a forum. Instead i share them with friends.

also with me personally i learned not to try and inject my sense of humor into the forums in the form of a new thread. i posted a thread once musing over how i thought it was funny that native americans got offended by one specific thing jersey shore did, instead of being offended by EVERYTHING about jersey shore.

my musing was immediately responded with scores of people accusing me of being a racist, despite being a native american my self (well partially on my mothers side, but i really like their culture).

i think thats how i first learned that, online, people will jump immediately for even the smallest chance to tar and feather some one for being offensive. Even if the offense taken was a misconception.

The trick is to actually make an inviting OP for discussion. If you ask a question without actually explaining your own opinion, don't expect others to drive the discussion for you. I've seen lot's of threads that bring up a topic and end with "what do you guys think?" Don't expect others to make an effort when you aren't.

Basically, you get what you put into it.
