Get Respite (? the perk which allows restoration spells to heal stamina) - Run - Heal - Repeat

Otherwise: Get a fighter as your follower and use heal other all the time!

Heal corpses, not sure if that still works. Find Equilibrium in Labyrinthian, turn your health into magicka, then heal the wounds that result. Use turn undead on Draugr. If you can stand managing them, use wards whenever possible.

I thought wards did not make your skill increase?

well, if you are looking to grind, find an enemy, let him hit you, heal. That's what I did.

Once you can cast circle of protection fairly easily that is a way to level on the climb from 70 to 100. (by spamming it)

Yea, circle of protection is a good choice once you are able to cast it as you can cast it anywhere, but until then, just turn undead. Turn EVERY undead you come across. Using a healing spell in your offhand during battle levels it well enough if you are playing that type of character.

I believe it only gets an increase when it actually takes damage. I've never actually used one, I use the spellbreaker and resist magic together to soak up all spells.

2 effective ways, both work better with the Aetherium Crown and the Mage/Lover Stones :

- 1 : Use Turn Undead Spells on a bunch of Draugr with at least 300 Magicka and a 200% regen rate (otherwise you'll just be wasting time and potions can really help here). Upgrade to Repel Undead once it becomes available and go to Geirmund's Hall (if you haven't cleared it out already). Get about 8 Draugr chasing you right after you fall down the pit, and use the gate/portcullis to trap the Draugr behind it (keeping them in the tunnel). If too many run away, open the gate and bait them forwards, otherwise just spam up Repel Undead.

- 2 : Do it in tandem with Heavy and Light Armour Training. Stand between 1 or 2 Frost Trolls, or just 1 Giant, get battered, heal, rinse, lather, repeat. Same method works for levelling Block as well.

Depending on your current level and your gear and the Spells you currently have, it takes a wildly varying degree of time. From 30 to 100? About 4 to 8 hours tbh.

If you're looking to grind, the mining camp called Halted Stream Camp West of Whiterun has a pitfall in it. The spikes hurt you just by touching them.

If you're looking to gain Restoration faster than normal, just be sure to get hit every now and then and anytime your health is down heal yourself.

Respite does not give XP. If it does it's very little. :P

I used the Respite perk on my vampire character so she could sprint around during the day (since it doesn't recover). Not once did I level up my restoration when I was only restoring my stamina.

1: Find the atronach stone and take the blessing of 50% absorb magic.
2: Find a crystal that shoots fire at you. (preferably more than one, to speed things up)
3: Cast infinite healing with infinite magicka.
3.5: ???
4: Profit.

heal, rinse, lather, repeat.

You mixed that up. If you rinse first, then what is left to lather??

Go to High Hrothgar and stand in the storm thing (blocks the path up to Paarthurnax) that hurts you. Constantly use Healing or Fast Healing.
Its spamming but it works. Take plenty of Magic potions.

Or, he could do it in a way that doesn't need potions (because it's that much faster and easier!)

most of the methods listed are slow and tedious, your best bet is turning undead unless you are a character that constantly uses restoration in his off hand, then it should level up fine.

Slow?

Excuse me, but I leveled my resoration to 60 in a few minutes. Listening to music made the time fly by quite fast.
