Why no pre-order items on Steam?

Post » Sun Aug 12, 2012 7:01 pm

I′m a really big fan of Dishonored, I love and own Dark Messsiah and Arx Fatalis. As I read on bethblog that Dishonored will have several pre-order items on several retailers, I still wait to buy. Beacuse I want them all =)

Now Dishonored is available on Steam, but without any pre-order stuff, no collectors, digital deluxe or special edition just the base game without anything. Why? As a huge fan I already own Arx since years, so this is no offer for me, and maybe for the most fans, too.

As far as I know there is no chance to get all pre-order items in one buy, right? I′m really confused about this.

What's so confusing about it? It's bad marketing. That's all there is to it. And there is no chance to get all pre-order bonuses with one buy.

The pre-order items for Steam will probably come out closer to release. And besides the items will probably be Team Fortress 2 items that everyone will use for a week and everyone will forget about after that. Except if they are really good looking promotional vanity items and I really hope they add that.

Ask Bethesda why they have this brain dead marketing plan for the game.

There are a number of TF2 promos that are still pretty popular.

True. "The Machina" for one thing. A lot of Vanity items are as well. I just hate the fact they didn't offer good pre-order incentives. And the whole deal with exclusive bone charms and different retailers is a really bad move on Bethesda's part.

If Anything I'm Only going to buy Dishonored for the promotional items, if they have them. Pre-ordered for my Xbox 360 needless to say both of my computers could not play Dishonored

I want to buy them as well. But I won't because I won't support this type of marketing. And I can't get the tarot cards...so yeah that's a thing.

I can′t believe, this is just a marketing decision. They should know how to make it right. I wish Bethesda would do the same as Ubisoft did by Far Cry 3. There you can get all pre-order bonuses via Collectors Edition.

I really hope the last word is not spoken on this thing.

That will probably happen if the game does good and most likely a year after release. So don't count that possibility out yet.

A post-launch CE? Or an edition with all the DLC in one go. Either way I'd probably buy just to be sure. A back up copy. I think I'm not well.

Well I am still pre-ordering the game at least a month before release. Just want to make sure I can get the cards. If I can't I will settle for one of the other packs.

I'm continually offering convenient sacrifices (like skipping a meal) in hopes that you'll get the cards.

Probably not. There aren't enough retailers and they probably won't make anymore after release. It's sad but most of all I want the game to be good.
