What does your house look like?

Post » Sun Aug 12, 2012 10:08 am

I just got Vindrel Hall on one of my characters and it got me thinking, what are some of the things you guys do with your houses?

What are some little touches you add to make it feel more unique? Do you keep the items that come with the house in their place, or do you take them and use them? Is there something you tend to do with all the houses you have? Do you keep things organized or is it just chaos, lol? What else?

I like to keep things that come with the house there for the most part, and add to it. I take ingredients and such that are in containers already, but keep those displayed.

I avoid doing that to be perfectly honest. So many bugs.

I make it a goal to load all my bookshelves with many books.

Along shelves or the tops of bookcases I like to line up a few of my favorite helmets. I have a whole bunch of cool helmets lined up upstairs along the ledge that overlooks the downstairs in Proudspire. It was a complete pain in the ass putting them there but it was worth it. It looks awesome.

I also replaced all the original dishwear that came with the house with Dwemer stuff I found in the ruins. I've only done this upstairs though because that's where I've been decorating. Haven't started downstairs yet.

There's some other really cool things I've done and more that I would like to do with my homes but manually decorating a house in Skyrim is so difficult. There's a few bugs that make it tough as hell.

It depends on the character. One example would be my Dunmer's house (Vlindrel Hall) is littered with Dwemer things, from bowls to ingots to hunks of metal. I RP him as a scholar on the Dwemer, so I decorate the house with things of that nature.

The bug that makes items automatically flip upside down when you pick them up is so frustrating.. I really wish that would get fixed then I would put in alot more time to decorate my house.

I once put a little Nightshade flower in Honeyside just for a little decoration, put it right on my bedstand. Came back to see it was in the cooking room and everything on the dining table was now on the floor. I don't decorate my house in Skyrim.

Yeah its annoying. Good thing books stay in place or I'd go insane.
