Slender

Post » Mon Aug 13, 2012 3:15 am

Slender is a first-person survival horror game made by Parsec Productions, a one-man studio lead by Mark J. Hadley. You take control of one man/woman, with only a flashlight, as you explore a small forest looking for 8 sheets of paper while being stalked by what is known as the Slender Man.

The more sheets you collect, the closer the Slender Man gets, and the more dramatic the music becomes.

It's quite creepy, and the atmosphere is terrific, at least in my opinion. Other then that..

I'd recommend checking it out if you get the time..

It is not a very hardware-intensive game, but the simplest machines will have trouble running it even at the lowest settings, so try to have at least some kind of hardware acceleration.

I played it last week at the request of a friend. It's really creepy for such a simple game, I'll admit. I've never gotten more than 4 pages. :P

I was wondering when someone was going to make a thread on this game. I've played it and it's creepy as s{beep}, the most pages I've found was 4 or 5. It's so simple yet it's a tough little game .

I've heard and read so much about the game that the Slenderman is no longer scary!

I had a similar experiance...I was going for page 5 and I was out in the woods running, as soon as I stopped and looked up---BOO---there he was. Scared the living daylights out of me  .

I never found the Slenderman urban legend even remotely disturbing, but it's how tense you get when playing the game that's fun.

Yup. He can, apparently, spawn anywhere your not looking. Not just behind you.

Love this game. The terrible graphics make it even more creepy. :P

The Source remake also looks interesting.

Can we expect the usual Irishman ramblings in this episode?

Just a couple of things.

1: Get headsets or ear buds.

2: Have a security blanket or teddy bear near by.

3: Play it at night or in a dark room for full effect.

Actually it's a woman. Or at least she sounds like one when she's catching her breath after running... or after a close encounter :o
I'd recommend checking it out if you get the time. Its completely free, and even the simplest of computers/labtops can run it.
Not really, it is not a very hardware-intensive game, but the simplest machines will have trouble running it even at the lowest settings, so try to have at least some kind of hardware acceleration.

But yeah, I was challenged to play it a couple of times, at a friends house past midnight with no lights on, with the screen being a projector, and both times I'll admit that I screamed like a little girl (or boy). I believe it is a good game to exercise your self-control.

So there's no reason to be ashamed that I only found 4 pages? Good

I played it yesterday, after midnight, with headphones. It scared the hell out of me. I'm not a fan of horrors anyway, but this game is just creepy. After the fourth page a consistent static began and well, you know what happens next.

(I'm glad it did, any more of that forest would surely give me nightmares)

No, I don't dare to try it. I don't like getting creeped out, not while being alone anyway.
I dislike scary stuff, and I miss out on lots of great games as a result. I don't end up with nightmares and paranoia, and I don't scream, but I don't like such stuff at all.

Some games I've enjoyed greatly, like Vampire - The Masquerade and Alan Wake, but they're not really horrors, just creepy.

I haven't had the guts to play it yet myself, but I've seen plenty of different people play it on Youtube. One in particular is PewDiePie. :P

Boring, not scary in the slightest. Putting me in the woods with a teleporting "enemy" that does almost nothing isn't even threatening, let alone terrifying. There needs to be more diversity in the environments, Slendy needs some animation, and I need more motivation than finding some dumb scraps.

Decided to only pick up one page and wait for the man. Was kind of strange at first, as there was static coming from a specific direction but no figure. Then he was just there.
