I always loved the idea of being one in Skyrim, but for some reason I never stick to it. I am thinking about giving it another go now. An imperial ranger seems good to me. I love dark elves, but the idea of a dark elf using a bow as his primary attack seems wrong for some reason.

I have a female Dark Elf as a ranger. It's quite overpowered, I tend to level entire mobs before they notice me on Master difficulty and when the few that are left get near I just bust out the dual-wield daggers with absorb stamina and health on them and power attack spam. Remember that Dark Elfs are good at just about everything so they make quite the well rounded ranger and a even better vampire-ranger.

How do you guys generally build your rangers? As someone said, it is OP with the sneak attack, so I limit myself to one sneak shot per encounter. Sneak up, fire and arrow and then get out of sneak mode. Makes it harder and for me, more fun.

Guys playing female characters is just flat out creepy.

Even moreso when they put them in Ancient Nord armor/Forsworn. I play the game to play, not raise my flag.

Stereotypical Ranger (more or less) I just use smithing for arrow crafting.
