Gameovercast: Any Gamescom interview questions?

Post » Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:58 pm

Hello

I am part of the GameOverCast team, an enthusiast video gaming podcast. We are going to Gamescom this week and one of our team has been lucky enough to get a chance to see Dishonored and if we get the chance will be interviewing members of the development team.

All of the Gameovercast presenters have agreed that this is our most hotly anticipated game of 2012 - it’s been a fight over who gets to do this interview, sadly it’s not me.

However my colleague radarhead has lots of questions lined up but would love to ask some directly from the fans so if you have any do post them here and he will do his best to ask as many of them as he can - I will post a link to the podcast with the interview when we get back next week if that is ok with the Mods?

Thanks

Major Tom

Thank you for mentioning this. Hope you ask the "right" questions though.

Hmm, Harvael Smithantonio has already answered most of the big questions I had. I'd be curious how Dishonored moves the immersive sim genre forward, from their perspective.

Mostly about the story, narrative and charactreization. Most answers regarding gameplay have been answered anyways.

I'm going to try listening to that now. How long are you popping back in here to check out prospective questions?

If you guys want to tweet something out that you're looking for questions, I'd be happy to retweet from the Dishonored twitter account. Just PM me if you decide to do that.

Good luck to your staff at Gamescom!

Damn. I wanted to thank him for what sounded like more details about Timish before the interview with Raf. I tried to listen to the interview proper, but the outside feedback coupled with my crappy tech won out.

Thanks Gstaff. If I think of one, I will shamelessly take you up on that.

Some questions are better asked from, say, Viktor Antonov. I was reading in OPM recently that to give the player a better idea of the game's verticality, the art team came up with subtle ways to attract people's attentions to paths above them with little clues like a flock of birds taking off a balcony, or beams of light shining through an alcove... I love to hear about little touches like these.

At this point I feel we know enough about what's in the game without being spoiled, so good questions would be like what isn't in the game? Either what they chose not to have or decided to discard later, such as ideas for powers, ideas about Corvo, the Outsider perhaps.

There really isn't anything to ask except to try out the game or a detailed explanation of everything.

The questions shouldn't be too in-depth, we don't want to spoil much.

I guess one thing I would like to know is if there will be a major focus on characterisation to accompany the setting and whether those character arcs will be affected by your actions throughout the game.

I meant something BIGGEr....are there any horses or cows or or....hell I want a whole bestiary of the world of Dishonored. Also...since the whale bones are magical...what other parts of the whale have powers besides the oil. I mean...idk....if blubber makes you invulnerable to deep sea pressures that allow the people to hunt whales that try to escape by diving that would be cool.

Between the plague and people bein oppressed and such, I assumed that'd account for the absence of most other animals. And the Devs said it'd be impossible to reach a bird to possess it even though they're definitely present.

I have to confess ignorance about whale blubber though :P

Well they won't even if we pleaded but there really isn't anywhere to go but in-depth.
