3DS Daggerfall Remake Would Be Epic

Post » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:44 pm

Nothing to play on my 3DS, but an RPG like daggerfall remade on the system with a more closely tied lore to the other games would be awesome.

What do u guys think?

Actually, the OP has a point.

Daggerfall is still regarded as one of the high points of the series (despite the bugs), but it's just so huge that to recreate it to the same standard as Skyrim or even Oblivion would take Bethesda literally forever. 3DS is a simple enough system where an updated version of the original game system may just work - meaning that most of the wilderness would still be randomly generated, but the touch-screen aspect could be used to control sword swings, access menus, even jot notes on the map :)

People who worship Talos in secret would never let anyone catch on so you're either a Stormcloak sympathizer or a fool, either way you're no friend of mine.

I think it might be a 3 dimensional simulator for games, so much fancy stuff these days.

God no. The touch screen should only be used for menus. Whoever thought it was a good idea to use it as a control on such a awkward device should be shot. Im tired of games that rely on the touch screen cus the corner of the DS digs into the palm and gets uncomfortable really fast.

Well, you WOULD still be able to use the controller as well :)

Thing is, Daggerfall had a multitude of different attacks depending on the direction you swiped the mouse. This would translate well into the touch screen, unless they opted to bring in the 'always use best attack' option from Morrowind - which would just dumb the game down somewhat.

It has some real useful health benefits and look at bulls they drank heaps of the stuff as babies look at those tanks, also Ulfric had to drink milk as a child/baby maybe if he kept drinking it he would have had stronger bones and the extra health benefits from it, after all my character was a Khajiit and loved milk I killed Ulfric with a right hook.

They didn't retreat though they gave themselves to the imperials without a fight even though Ulfric had a secret weapon.

I can just imagine it now - basically the same, but with a fresh coat of 'modern' paint.

The towns could all have their own signature 'look' rather than having all the buildings look the same, the NPCs could actually be modelled rather than the ridiculously fast sprites that existed in the original, speech could be included and the music improved, and the space between towns could be spiced up with low-poly trees and bushes rather than the bizarre sprites of the original.

Gameplay could be improved by having the map displayed in the upper screen (or your status, equipment and items, quest list, notebook), proper lighting in dungeons, touch-screen sword swinging, a few gameplay upgrades in the tone of Skyrim (for example more visible sneaking and skill progress).

Daggerfall would be far too much for Bethesda to recreate to full Skyrim standard, so a remake on PC or the main consoles wouldn't make a lot of sense considering those games have the newer Elder Scrolls games anyhow - but the 3DS is an untapped market that's begging for something like this. Nobody expects Skyrim to be ported to it (nobody's that silly I assume) so most would be quite happy with a game that's clearly more geared for shorter bursts of play like a Daggerfall remake of this nature.

The only one off the top of my head would be the relatively short time the 3DS has been on the market, and the fact that Nintendo (by and large) are seen as a producer of consoles and games for very young children. This will surely change pretty soon, as the WII-U promises to start getting more serious 'older' games, for example Mass Effect 3 will be a launch title - Mass Effect 3... on Nintendo! Surely Bethesda can join in the fun :)

WTF who faps to this kind of thing

Don't you just get the urge to whip your 3DS out round about now? I remember how good the Final Fantasy III remake was on the original DS - and if Daggerfall can return in anything like the sort of quality that game did we're looking at maybe the greatest Elder Scrolls of the generation :)
