as long as she isn't set to "WAIT HERE" in the follower commands she will go through any door with you unless the quest your on scripts her to wait. There are certain quests that will boot your follower until you leave the area. You'll see a text on the upper left of your screen saying to the effects of "follower not allowed" or something.
