So I escorted Serana to Volkihar. She gives her little speech about seperating. I tried activating the door and ... nothing. Serana doesn't try to open it, the watch guy doesn't do anything.

Does anyone have any help?

Sometimes NPC's get their AI stuck. Try talking to her and the guard again. That will often spur them into switching to their next objective.
