Help me build a stealth rogue-ish character I will actually

Post » Thu Aug 16, 2012 10:05 am

I have tried before, and I always get bored. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the game - people seem to love this play style - it is just that for me, personally, I get very bored knwoing that I can sneak anywhere and nobody will ever see me.

I want to sneak though, I have not yet done the thieve's guild, and I want to try the vamp side of Dawnguard with a sneaky character. I just think it is ridiculous when you can shoot an arrow in someone's face, they look for you for 30 seconds or so, and then settle back down proclaiming that it must have been the wind. Repeat. Boring. No challenge at all.

I think what I will do is give myself one sneak attack per encounter. I don't know.

Anyway, as far as a build goes, I love the bow, and I also love daggers, but I don't want to rely on sneak attacks. I would like to fight with maybe dual wield daggers. Being able to summon a bow would be nice, but I don't know if I want to sink too many points into magicka.

I was thinking about this for a build: http://skyrimcalculator.com/175961 (sorry, the build save feature seems to make it so when you copy and paste the build, it is dark like that. Copy the link, it works.)

I don't know, suggestions? Tips?

Only take one or two ranks in the Stealth perk. Should make it a bit harder to sneak. Simply don't over do the stealth aspects, and it will still be challenging.

Didn't you just want to make a mage a bit ago? Keep your mind on one character at a time, man!

Anyway, Khajiit are the best at stealth, for they can see in the dark without creating any light, and without being a vampire.

Stealth expertise is easy. The essential perks you want are:

-Sneak
Stealth
Deadly Aim
Assassin's Blade

-Archery
Overdraw
Eagle Eye

-One-Handed
Armsman
Dual Flurry
Dual Savagery

You use these perks, and you'll do fine.

Yeah, I did, but destruction is just too messed up for me. I will wait until I can play the PC version and use mods to fix Bethesda's incompetence.

And no khajiit for me. They are my least favorite race, in fact the only race I have never tried in TES. Again, just a personal thing.

Do you guys think dueling it out with daggers only against a bandit chief is viable?

Unless you smith, and enchant those daggers you probably get slaughtered. Going strictly bow would be more feasible.

Khajiit Assassins are one of the few ways to function normally on Master rank. In fact, they have a challenge out with Khajiit Assassin's called the "Iron-Man Challenge" However, I do agree with you on not liking Khajiit. To me, a Khajiit Dovahkiin is just pathetic.

Daggers are strictly used for assassinations. You need to use swords until you unlock the "Assassin's Blade" perk. In a fight, it's best to have a powerful sword if you're surrounded and have no other alternative. If a boss comes up, just retreat and hide and take him out quietly.

Also, on another note, a stealthy-assassin character requires a lot of patience, but it pays off.

I get what you're saying, but it just so BORING. I know I can't lose. If I get into trouble, I run 10 feet away and crouch, and I will be fine to make another devastating sneak attack in a few seconds. The only thing possibly more boring than this is being a mage, and using conjuration or illusion to deal damage for you.

Perk out your archery skill, and run around firing your arrows. You don't need to run and hide. Use poisons as well. Instead of a dagger, go with a katana, but still keep a dagger for when you do want a stealth kill. Use the silent roll perk in conjunction with critical charge for some added depth.

Maybe I will go pure archer. Doable? How much magicka would I need to make an archer / conjurer who conjures a bow, and sometimes an atronach?
