NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti Compatability

(The reason I'm not doing this on the NVIDIA forums is because they took it down last month)

So I currently have the GTX 560 Ti, and I'm looking to upgrade to the 660 Ti.

I had looked inside my case to make sure I had the space for an extra .5 inches, and I did so I was pretty excited on getting the new NVIDIA card. I also have the necessary PSU.

Although I wanted to be COMPLETELY sure I could use this card because I didn't want to drop $300 then find out I couldn't use it. So I looked up my motherboard, saw what PCI slot it had.

The GTX 660 Ti is designed for PCIE 3.0, although I only have PCIE x16 (1). Yet at the bottom of the 660 Ti page on NVIDIA's site (http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660ti/specifications) it says this
at the bottom: *GeForce GTX 660 Ti supports PCI Express 3.0. The Intel X79/SNB-E PCI Express 2.0 platform is only currently supported up to 5GT/s (PCIE 2.0) bus speeds even though some motherboard manufacturers have enabled higher 8GT/s speeds"

So my question is, will my motherboard be able to support this card and if it can will it be able to use it at it's max potential?

Thanks.
