PC controllers & joysticks

Post » Sat Aug 18, 2012 7:19 pm

I'm about to have to give in after all of these years and pick up a pc controller / joystick. Maybe even a few different models.

I'm looking for something to play older side scrolling / fighting console style games with, as well as something to play newer 3D stuff.

Also, someone once posted a pic on here (I think in a thread about some sort of new Mech game?) of a huge set that looked like the inside of a fighter jet cockpit. I kind of want that too. Idk what I would play with it, but yeah.

I'll go ahead and say that I hate playstation style controllers, and that I don't really like using a 360 controller for side scrolling or fighting games.

Could you fellows please make some recommendations and/or give some advice to me please?

I'll never be as good with a controller as I am with keyboard & mouse in FPS/RPG games, or specific side scrollers like Shinobi 3, but I'm having trouble on stuff like Mazin Saga Mutant Fighter and Samurai Shodown games.

The big mech joystick is probably one that I posted and is from the game Steel Battalion. http://swotti.starmedia.com/tmp/swotti/cacheC3RLZWWGYMF0DGFSAW9U/imgSteel%20Battalion6.jpg. While it is http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/7801-steel-battalion-controller-and-win-7-64-bit-drivers/ to get this joystick to run in Windows, it is a bit of a pain and obviously takes up your whole desk when in use.

There are plug and play Windows drivers for it. However you'd need to figure out how to scrounge up $200 to actually buy the controller first. :P
