While chatting with a fellow PC gamer we discovered that we had quite a long history of having played some of the most memorable RPG series of all time, like finding the rune of humility in Ultima 4, finding the Xeen cloning machine in Might and Magic World of Xeen, defeating the Beast of 1000 eyes in the Gorror room in Wizardry 7, playing the Unfinished Business mod that changed the ending to Baldur′s Gate Throne of Baal, or facing that terrible choice at the Citadel of Apocalypse at the end of the main quest in Darklands....I could hardly whipe away my smile while remembering those great games. He seed to share my love for the current RPGs and especialy TES games, so natualy the subject changed to Skyrim. While we couldnt see eye to eye in some points we both agreed it was a forthy succesor to the past TES games, a fact really more prononced by our reminicing of past great series, now long gone and mostly forgoten by the current generations. It really got me thinking of all those "fans" that spam these forums saying how bethesda ruined their game by changing the archery advancement, or "dumbed" the guild, or maliciously removed content or ideas to develop them latter as DLC....all in all guys it made me ashamed of nitpicking things I have modified with mods anyway, makinga fuss about the UI or other petty things
I cannot forget that TES games are going strong and are tremendously succesful both as games and as business, so their continuation is as safe as could be, while the memories of the Darklands, Ultimas, Wizardrys and Might and Magics fade evermore from memory....
So next time you want to rant how Beth [censored] Morrowind or whatever nonsense remeber all those great series that didnt get to get to a whole new generation of gamers and are now dead and abandoned, and even if Skyrim (or even Oblivion) are not as brilliant or daring as Morrowind or Daggerfall, the alternative is a whole lot more sad...having no more TES games a t all
