Patch 1.07 Reporting Thread #2

Post » Mon Aug 20, 2012 1:03 am

As I'm on early this morning and the other thread just reached 200+ I'm going to kick off the sequel

Patch 1.07 Reporting Thread #2

Original Thread can be found http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1402624-patch-107-reporting-thread/

Reported and confirmed issues so far:

* The water crash caused by patch 1.5 has not been fixed by this patch contrary to what the notes say. The community found fix still works and http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1364560-game-freeze-after-going-underwater/ explains how to do this.

* Aggressive LODs, pop-ins and flickering textures are much more commonplace post patch

* Frame rate issues appear more frequent but less severe

We discussed a few more, but I can't remember any biggies.

Carry on.

Why a thread get locked after 200+ posts?

Murt, add to your list that starting a new character can be better in terms of performance instead of playing the the old one.

Last, any news about the patch? Will we get it this week finally?

It used to be the case that the forum engine can't maintain threads above 200 posts, that limitation no longer exists but locking 200+ post threads make moderation easier because members will create new threads for important discussion while unimportant ones die off.

While it's a good idea I won't be adding a point that starting over helps performance because I personally disagree with it (throwing away tens of hours of progress due to bad design) and it's only a short term fix. Performance issues are part of the game's poor design and will always be there. Restarting just delays the inevitable.

As for the Euro patch, nothing has changed. GStaff's last update was that it was with Sony and they hadn't heard anything. The idea that Sony Europe would take a nearly two weeks longer than Sony America to test a patch is frankly unbelievable. The only logical explanation is that the patch was supposed to release 09/08/12 for everyone but the Sony one failed certification and Bethesda have had to resubmit. If it was a minor point failure and Bethesda gave Sony a fixed version last week then it would have released, now that we're looking at the back end of this week at the earliest, I think it might have been something serious.

Ok thanks for the explanation ;)

Crashes are more frequent and random. I have had many, many, many, many, many, many crashes since installing the Antipatch. Even with a new character.

Save file bloating faster than ever before. 30hrs 7mb save.

Warning: this game doesn't like it when you have fun. If you feel you are having fun, the game will punish you with a lovely crash

Everything else Murt pretty much sums up. Tree LOD and object LOD was reduced. Flickering and excessively blurry textures (see snow and rocks). Shadows are horrid. pan the camera slowly to the side and you notice every shadow flickering.

The shadow flickering was on 1.5 also..
