I think Bethesda...

...should do a Lord of the Rings game in a similar style to Skyrim.

Can you imagine how awesome that would be? Especially considering the crap games that are out there already set in Middle Earth - it'd be cool to have a game where you can actually explore the world, as with Skyrim.

So, what do you say Bethesda? Would something like that even be possible?

Can we please stop making Tolkien roll over in his grave already? I think his work has been bastardized enough in the last couple of years.

I've seen impressive mods, I think it's perfectly possible for dedicated fans to create an entirely middle earth themed Skyrim. It probably won't happen, and if it does it'll be finished by the time TESVI comes out, but it's possible.
Should Bethesda do it? I'd rather not. They should focus their efforts on finishing Tamriel. :D

This. Tolkien has his own works. Let bethesda have their own.

Honestly, I'd rather not have Bethesda playing around in Tolkien's universe.

Your statement combined with your avatar picture makes me laugh.

Well, the last two Elder Scrolls games may as well have been set in Middle Earth. Not mentioning the fact that Whiterun is essentially the city of Edoras in Rohan.

You're not the first one to have this idea. And you won't be the first to have it disapproved.

That would require consistent and in-depth characters and writing.

So no.

I imagine there would be a lot of shattered expectations even for the world-building, given how towns and cities have gotten progressively smaller and lifeless with each new Elder Scrolls. And it'd probably take 20-30 minutes to walk into Mordor from anywhere on the map.

One does not simply *walk* into Mordor...

...One *fast travels*

I didn't think Bethesda had the rights to TLOTR.

LOL. Was that and insult to Beth?, lol. The way things turned out for Skyrim, you're probably right.
