Tell me this aint so.

I was battling some vampires and using firebreath pretty heavily and suddenly my Destruction Magic skill went up! Wot?! Shouts are now linked to skills? Does that mean I'm levelling each time I use a shout? Any shout or is it just firebreath? Or could it have been some kind of bug?

I'm playing a warrior and don't use destruction magic at all, just a bit of restoration.

using any mods? other than that im not a huge shout user (except for throw voice, stinkin cheese brains and skeever butts...) so i havent noticed it.

It has probably always been that way. Considering how slowly shouts cast I highly doubt you are going to level destruction very fast with it.

Wow now I'm really glad I only use slow time, elemental fury, and unrelenting force.

Wait... Why would you NOT want skills to go up? It raises the highest level you can reach, ergo number of perks you can take.

Or does the shunning of so-called "powergamers" on this forum extend so far as a phobia, where it makes you tremble to think you might gain a level by increasing a skill you don't regularly use?
