arkane studios need to a history video

Post » Fri Aug 24, 2012 6:29 am

Just like Bethesda, Arkane needs a studio history video. I read one article where they talked about how they came by adn what happened, and good lord are they lucky.

Just look at what happened at Interplay.

Yeah but companies do that if they are really successful. This is probably the only thread that deserves the word need because Arkane represents what really goes on in this industry and how big bucks ruin innovations because of people's interests. Let's wait for the game to come out, be great (yes it will don't even question it or I will slap you out of existence) and have an impact on the industry. That way we can push them to make such a thing if they are willing because the team behind Dishonored is full of individuals that I respect. They are true artists.

Harvey told me today that despite everything that might happen, they LOVE this game. That is beautiful! I want to hear these sort of things from more and more game developers! Arkane deserve this!

Read this: http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/6/27/3115822/arkane-dishonored-bethesda-origin-crossing-deus-ex-arx-fatalis. While only about Raf and Harvey, it is one of the best articles I have ever read, and provides a lot of history about them.

Indeed, great article. I wish I could get my hands on Technosaur.

I want The Crossing! I want it really badly and they might start working on it again but at the moment it's on hold.

If Arx Fatalis wasn't released the company would have been finished. They lucked out.

And damn EA was so different back then...they aren't anymore like that today(maybe a little).

EDIT: Regarding Crossing, if this one is successful, I bet Bethesda would let them finish that and publish it.

I hope they see the potential Valve did.

A conversation between Harvey and myself, regarding The Crossing:

https://twitter.com/Harvey1966 If Dishonored is a success, would you consider rebooting The Crossing? https://twitter.com/StrifeCross and I would love it! So much potential!

https://twitter.com/makatak7 haha, not sure...that's a game Raph and Arkane pitched before i was here

https://twitter.com/Harvey1966 Well, keep it in mind! As I said, it has tons of potential. Remind Raf about it every once in a while...

There may be hope!

Yeah Harvey really isn't the person to ask on this one. We'll just bring it up until they reconsider. Be annoying enough for a long amount of time and it might get what you want...or get killed.

Yeah... If only Raf had a Twitter, like you suggested to Harvey...

I suggest a lot of things but if Viktor comes out of hiding I will kidnap him and make sure nobody ever sees him again...hm, this sounds familiar. But no seriously this isn't a discussion for now. Best leave it after the game launches and we see their success.

Update on The Crossing situation with Harvey:

https://twitter.com/Harvey1966 Regarding my question earlier, would you personally like to see "The Crossing" get rebooted?

https://twitter.com/makatak7 I think it would be cool.

Yay!

They are out there talking about their development philosophy and that's powerful enough for now, before the game comes out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xu1vabSbiUA&feature=g-u-u is fantastic.

Looking Glass were awesome and it's good to see that their roots are now spread out throughout the industry. And they do have a very interesting view on game making which I can totally relate to.
