Why is the Dragonborn such a wimp?

Am I the only one bothered by this?

I mean, it's not like this is the first time I'm playing, but now it's really getting to me. The Dragonborn is supposed to be a legendary hero, and he/she goes around slaying huge dragons, ancient vampires, hordes of draugr, but then you run into ONE Bandit Marauder, and get your grass handed to you. It doesn't make any friggin sense to me. I mean, a few slices with an ebony longsword and a CITY GUARD with all that training and armor is left on the ground a bloody mess, but "Oh look out!", a homeless bandit in fur armor with a regular steel broadsword is going to force the Dragonborn into using every potion, poison, spell buff, and cheap trick in the book to drop him.

Still, I mean, it's an awesome game. I get that it adds a little drama and suspense to it that you don't eventually reach godlike status and kill every enemy without effort, but the Nerevarine would pwn the Dragonborn and Hero of Kvatch at the same time. In fact, why wouldn't the Jarls just recruit all these bandits and send them to fight the dragons, and just bring up the pitiful Dragonborn to do his/her little dragon soul absorb trick after the bandits DESTROY the dragons like they do to the Dragonborn? It would strike me as a safer bet than risking the Dragonborn to take on the dragons alone to save the entire planet.

I love Skyrim and all. But, just saying.

i am sure that there was a thread like this 1 or 2 months ago.... probably made by the same person

what ever... bandits are weak. forsworn, dragons, high lvl ice mages and high lvl draugr are stronger than bandit chiefs.

Everybody has a bad day. Even the Dragonborn.

He's the hero of Skyrim. Not a god. Well, ok maybe he's a demi-god but still. He's not immortal. He's bound to make a mistake in battle.

So, he's taken down dragons, undead Nords, vampires, werewolves, chickens, rocks. And he's been cut down by a bandit wearing a loin cloth fighting with a piece of wheat. It happens. Maybe the sun was in the Dragonborn's eyes. Or maybe he wasn't properly trained in how to avoid wheat wielding naked homeless people. If the god's give him a second chance at life. Maybe he'll be that much more careful in his adventures.

Or, it could be that maybe your particular dragonborn is a milk drinker and needs to stick to catching butterflies.

You got killed by a bandit Marauder? The real question is why do you stink. They may be the toughest non-boss bandits in the game but unless your wandering into high level areas at low level Marauders shouldn't be a problem unless you've failed at character development.

Firstly, maybe you're just using the wrong Weapons/Armor, or maybe you're not leveled up enough? I never have this problem, in fact, I haven't needed to use many potions since I was level 52, after that I basically never dropped below 90 percent health with my heavy armor on, Once I put on Light armor though, my mode of attacking (Dawnbreaker, and Firebolt) left me open to too many attacks, and I would eventually die, if I fought a more powerful enemy like a Foresword Briarheart. Are you leveling your skills up? Picking the right perks? If so, you shouldn't be having that particular problem...

Bandit Chiefs are do scaled damage, IIRC. So the higher level you get, the more damage they'll do. It's just one of those things they've added to keep the challenge in the game. In Morrowind, you could literally achieve God-hood (well, not literally). Once you got to max level, absolutely nothing could stand in your way because the enemies didn't level up with you. So you go into a cave at level 2, get your ass handed to you. Go back at level 20, and hand their asses to them. Go back at level 50 and you can sneeze them to death.

Made the game get old pretty quick. I'm alright with this system, to be honest. Once you know what to expect, you learn not to let them hit you...

Edit: Assuming you did mean Bandit Chiefs. If you actually meant Bandit Marauders, then, well, you need to get better at the game.

Just becasue the character is supposed to be like that, it's not always the case that your going to live upto it. My Thief has enough brains to run away from a battle, rather then fight a losing one.

The (smart) Dragonborn compensates for their weaknesses when it comes to fighting. Too tough? Fight defensively or make a withdrawl so he can try again in a level or two. Can't wait that long? Carry a bunch of potions (not hard to get) and try sneaking.

Remember, the Original Conan the Barbarian wasn't a meathead with an axe. He had as much brains as he had strength, if not more.

"since you were level 52".... you do know that the game stops making enemies tougher around there, right? So yeah. Of course nothing's hurt you much since then. You've been getting stronger, they haven't.

(I think the DLC adds some higher level monsters, though.)

Not all dragonborns are heroes.
Some prefer rping the average person who has nothing but shame, and then he/she finds out about her being dragonborn.

The Dragonborn is only as strong as the one who controls them
