Need to learn some Math

Or rather... a lot of math. Let me explain: For the past few years of my life, I have barely skimmed by in my math classes due to holding no interest in the subject, as well as not understanding the rushed explanations that were given. Upon taking the first test in my IB Math Class last week, I came to the conclusion that unless I take personal initiative, than my understanding of mathematics will continue to be rather restrained despite my new found interest in the subject.

What I need is to get my hands on a teacher that has all the time in the world to instruct... or rather, a book. Last year when I took the AP World History Exam, a little study guide did more miracles for me than months of reading a dry textbook, so I figured the same rule can apply here.

So to the point. I know one or two of you folks here know a good book on the subject. At this point, I pretty much need to have all High-School level math taught to me properly, but I am also up to go into the more advanced business once I get a grip on it. Shoot me with your recommendations! (Just don't blast them to hard... I'm a skinny guy after all, despite all the charm that radiates off this body.)
