..::THE COMMUNITY TECH THREAD No. 119::.

LET'S MAKE THIS WORK PEOPLE!

Okay, now as anyone could see there are HUNDREDS of tech threads floating around in CD - ranging from questions about graphics hardware, to questions about pricier graphics hardware and other tech such as monitors, hard drives and Processors to announcement threads of new technology and more. (I accede - I'm not being very eloquent here)

Any questions you have, tech news or ANYTHING related to buying/selling/information/announcements of new hardware should go here.

For example, if you come to the forums to ask "What is the better graphics hardware" or "What sort of RAM should I put in my PC?" then it should go here - I'm a little hazy, I know - but please keep all those graphics card and tech questions to one thread! Please!
So here's the summary, all:
 • Announcements and queries on new or unreleased tech
 • Benchmarks and results of hardware/discussion
 • Questions on what sort of hardware you need/want for your machine
 • Questions about existing tech and/or function
 • Pricing and recommendations
Should be kept to THIS THREAD.

This has been A-okayed by CCNA for all who were wondering - it's up to you to stop filling CD with the same topics again and again that ask what the most powerful card in existence is so you can (not) buy it.

If you feel you have a question or can answer one - please feel free to do so.

Thanks all.
Adding more links shortly, thank you for your patience.

(Threads 1-85 have been all pruned, may they rest in peace)

Do I also have to put a big glowing neon sign to this in my signature? THERE ARE TOO MANY TECH THREADS - THIS IS NOT A FORUM FOR YOUR TECH WOES!

But we will gladly help you anyway.

1.) your budget in your country's currency
2.) what country you reside if not listed in your avatar area
3.) pre-assembled PC? ...or can you build your own?
4.) what is needed other than the PC tower? Monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, Windows OS disc? All these can jack up the price.
5.) product preferences, preferred seller, and intended aim

but please, no "I want teh superererest Peecee evar1!!!!11!1", because really, only Bill Gates has that much moolah.

And, speaking of building your own PC, two sets of good how-to videos from Newegg:

Thanks  I was hoping someone who knows a little more about the current market could make some improvement suggestions.
(I haven't looked into parts or anything since building my own pc)

You can save even more if you take advantage of newegg combo deals. Example:

CASE + HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1031787 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1031787
GPU + RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1037767 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1037767
CPU + PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1049534 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1049519
MOBO + OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1032484 + http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1032484
Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065
DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204

That alone is roughly $1193.

As for an SSD, its a great time to buy one as there is a war going on. You can get a 128GB one for $70-80 if you pay attention to deals. Crucial M4, Samsung 830, Sandisk Extreme, Intel 330 are all respectable SSDs and have been found on sale frequently in the past few months at various sites. Right now, it's in the $110 range but with labor day coming I'd expect some excellent deals.

Should be within your budget.

Any opinions on these? Never heard of the brand but it has good reviews as well as interchangeable cables for a reasonable price.

Also any opinion on these? They're a bit out of my price range, but I could do with $20 extra if that is a particularly good brand for headphones.

In the past I've always looked for headsets, not headphones, so I'm a bit lost on what brands to stay away from or what to go for.

Take a look at Audio Technica' lineup. I have their ATH-M50, which is absolutely stellar but out of your price range. Their M30, M35, and M40 lineup are well-praised though for the more budget users:

If willing to spend for the M50, there is a labor day sale going on at Sound Professionals:

Can't praise this one enough...excellent for games and music.

My current monitor is a 17" Acer with only a single VGA input, but now I've got my new PC done I'm looking to upgrade it. I'd like it quite a bit bigger, probably 24", and it needs to have a DVI, HDMI and preferably VGA too. I've heard Asus are good for monitors but even just looking at the 24" ones there's a huge amount of variety and I don't really know what I'm looking for. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Widescreen-Monitor-1920x1080-DVI-D/dp/B005H3YW54/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1346025809&sr=1-3 looks good to me, anyone got any suggestions?

Hard to go wrong with Asus monitors these days...the one you chose is fine.
