Oblivion DLC vs Skyrim DLC

Post » Wed Aug 29, 2012 3:27 pm

What game do you think has the better DLC so far? Personally, after only about two DLC's and a patch that added horse combat, I seriously think that Skyrim already has Oblivion destroyed in this department. As a matter of fact, I really can't recall developers "adding" entirely new game play features as DLC (Crossbows, new perk trees for vampires/werewolf's, horse combat, building your own house, ect...) . I can't wait to see what else Bethesda adds to the game in the future!

Skyrim destroyed Oblivion in patches alone, of course Kotn and Shiv Ilses are I would argue better than what has been released so far....

Maybe

kinda..

a little

No way man, Oblivion's armored horse is the best DLC so far, hands down.

considering Skyrim has had nothing as huge as Shivering Isles yet you can't really compare. Dawnguard was fair sized but it wasn't a completely new world, which is why it was $15 not $40. Compared to horse armor and various pre-made buildings in Oblivion though, building your own house seems like a better option.

The closest thing Oblvion and Skyrim would have size wise is Dawnguard and Knights of the nine, both probably took aroudn the same time to finish, except Knights all you got was some new armor and an interesting quest. Dawnguard, they made vampires and werewolves worthwhile, new buildings to live in, a weapon that makes the sun explode or knocks out the sun and a few new areas. DLC wise Skyrim wins hands down IMO.

It's not like we didn't have them 10 years ago.

Skyrim has only had Dawnguard at the moment, so you can't really compare it until Skyrim gets all of its DLC going. But so far, Shivering Isles is the best of it for me.

You become lord of a damn Castle, and some vampires as a vampire lord, what the heck else you need, the game not rewards enough, as in "recognition", but dawngard is pretty cool at it, if you stick with the vampires, of course.

And in the Shivering Isles you replaced Sheogorath who is a Daedric Princes and you become leader of the realm.

Morrowind had the best dlc.

Oblivion dlc wasn't anything great. The wilderness of Shivering Isles I wanted for normal Cyrodiil in the Oblivion game so it would have looked more like the wilderness of Vvardenfell in Morrowind.

Morrowind had an entire island with town, imperial fort, village etc and then we had a city.

I wasn't overly impressed with Battlehorn Castle, Frostcrag Spire and all the other smaller dlc for Oblivion. I'd rather have had Kvatch built back up through a series of smaller dlc

You can't blame them for not adding giant mushrooms in Cyrodiil. That's not part of the lore. Vvardenfell has a unique environment. Not every place in Tamriel has to have giant mushrooms and the same environment as Morrowind.

Sorry for double post but TBH I think that by the time Skyrim is done with everything official DLC wise it might be better then Morrowind.

Well, if we're going to compare DLC let's throw out the Shivering Isles, Bloodmoon and Tribunal. Those are expansions - and therefore offer far mor content - and not DLC.

Skyrim has Dawnguard and now Hearthfire, compared to Oblivion's Knights of the Nine, Mehrune's Razor, Frostcrag Spire, Battlehorn Castle and Thieves Den. Hearthfire could potentially blow Oblivion's housing DLC out of the water, with a bunch of new features - defending your home from giants and skeevers, crafting 'bits' for your own home, adoption etc.
In terms of Dawnguard, I can't really comment since I've never played it. I'd assume that it's quite a bit larger than KotN and Mehrune's Razor, though, considering it features two new factions and a bunch of items, dungeons and other features.

So I'd say Skyrim is about on par with Oblivion in terms of DLC. Of course, nothing that we have/has been announced quite matches the Shivering Isles, but as I said that's not a fair comparison.

So.......you believe that Skyrim is "about" on par with oblivion in terms of dlc, based solely on your opinion of TWO skyrim dlc that you have never played/experienced? really? wtf

Also had adamantium armour, area effect arrows, bitter coast sounds, entertainers, helm of tohan, lefemm armour, the master index and the siege of firemoth plus Tribunal and Bloodmoon. Thats alot of plugins Bethesda gave us

Agreed, that and the Tribunal add-on for Morrowind.
