Help Recovering Saves

Post » Thu Aug 30, 2012 6:54 pm

I stored some of my saves on a cd as a data disc. Somehow the cd wasn't finalized properly or something. Now i can't open the cd at all, and if i do manage to open it, it shows up as a DVD-R and it's empty, even though it shows as having data on it (can't post imgur link apparently). I tried the free version of IsoBuster and managed to make an ISO of the cd, and it also seems like it would let me extract files from the iso (another imgur link i can't post) but when i try to extract it tells me to buy a copy of the software. Though according to it it found 238 files and only 30 seem to be damaged beyond being able to get it back. Any advice? Free software i can try using? I don't exactly have any money to spend on software right now.

I tried Isopuzzle, but i'm not really sure how it works so if anyone knows how that woks i'd appreciate any help. The problem is most guides out there are concerned with helping a person recover a video or picture file, not a game save file

Any and all help is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Also, if this is not a good forum for this kind of thing, no problem. I'll just go elsewhere i guess  .

If you still have the folder My Documents/My Games/Skyrim/Saves, you can try restoring from an earlier version.

Open that folder up, right click in empty space, go to the previous versions tab, push Open from the date you want and copy the relevant saves.

This only works, however, if you use System Restore points.
