What is the actual issue?

"We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone". I want to know what the actual issue is, I might have missed it but so far I havent noticed them say what they issue is they are trying to solve. If they haven't told us then it just proves their incompetence, I would have rather known what they are telling us now when the issue first came about then months after it's release on Xbox. They are digging themselves into an unnecessary hole with this DLC and making themselves look bad.
lets hope they pull through and next time they actual realize that the PS3 isnt exactly like the Xbox, their are many great games that run on both Xbox and PS3 such as battlefield that for myself runs fine

I'll just add that other major gaming companies have been able to properly optimize / translate their coding to work well on Sony's platform. Bethesda chose to contract out the re- coding to 4J studios for Oblivion, which ran very well, though was not perfect. Afterwards for thieir other titles based on the gamebryo engine they've tried to do the job in house, and have yet to match as smooth a performance as what 4J accomplished.

IMO Skyrim can be coded to run well on PS3. We've the proof even setting Oblivion aside, just give a spin to large memory svcking games like KIngdoms of Amular and Final Fantasy 12 both of which encompass large game worlds and feature HQ graphics and animations. Bethesda has never seen fit to invest n their own infrastructure ie code writing department, to match that level of quality, it's all too painfully obvious!

The issue is not enough RAM

Memory leaks and save bloating, to be more concise. Or to make it very simple: the entire engine's optimization is questionable at best and may (will) require extensive rewriting to correct.

This amounts to "While other companies can and do code properly for the PS3, we couldn't be arsed to as we have your money and any money made off DLC on PS3 will not justify the money required to update the vanilla, and actually train our coding monkeys to develop DLC that works on PS3"

The "RAM" issue is not an excuse, devs have had almost 8 yrs since the dev kits were released, if there is an issue, its don't develop for something you're not good at. Leave it to others.

I think the issue with the DLC is because of the Illuminati, or global warming, my little pony, Justing Beiber, House armor, the number 23, Santa Claus...

Does it really matter??? Look at how the vanilla game performs now, how that game was released. And that was when it was getting "tons of attention" and had the same level of parity with the 360 version cough*(BS!)*cough. I mean, these people are working their asses off cough*(BS!)*cough to give the PS3 version of Dawnguard "acceptable" performance. When have people ever used the word "acceptable" to describe somthing great?. "how was dinner?" "acceptable", "How does the car run?" "acceptable", "how was the movie?" "acceptable" I could go on, but my favorite would be if the wife or girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever asks you: "how was all the six and love making???" "acceptable" How would their reaction be if your answer is "acceptable" ???

Even if your game runs "perfectly" now (I doubt it), let me remind you that it was released in this state http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaeU3DvW5-o Was this "acceptable"??? Let's pretend Dawnguard gets released next week on PS3. You pay your $20 and decide to go vampire lord, Do you know that the vampire lord flies faster than a horse sprints with little stamina loss? So, if you lag while on horseback, imagine how it's going to slideshow on your vampire lord? ohh, and the game CRASHED!!!!, AGAIN!!! That's $10 down the toilet right there being that the main feature is the vampire lord and you won't be able to use it. And more radiant quests troubles. Does this look familiar? http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1406607-2-bugs-in-dawnguard-needing-a-fix/

Let's talk house armor: Currently, all the player homes in the vanilla game have some sort of bug. Wether it be the mannequins jumping out of their base or multiplicating armor. When you enter Breezehome and find a bunch of items on the floor like something blew up. Or the bookshelves multiplicating books. Chests missing, the missing Alchemy lab in Breezehome. You are likely to want to decorate your house will all kinds of stuff you find. That looks to me like a 25mb savefile right there.

You should know already what Bethesda is known for the most... making incredible games with millions and millions of bugs and performance issues. X2 if you are on PS3. This is NOT a good thing to be known for. If you decide to buy DLC or another product made by these people you should know by now the quality of the product you will be getting. Do not confuse quality with quantity and you will have only yourself to blame http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-3-Game-Edition-sony-playstation3/dp/B002BXKJ6O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346499886&sr=8-1&keywords=fallout+3+game+of+the+year+edition+ps3

Note: I will pay full price for this DLC and give up any right to complain only and ONLY IF Gstaff makes a post here stating that he guaranties that Dawnguard runs PERFECT (not "acceptable") but PERFECT on PS3
