NFL & College Football 2012

Post » Sun Sep 02, 2012 8:51 am

In regards to college football just starting and the NFL season coming right up I figured I would ask and see if anyone else here is looking forward to either of the two or both of the seasons.

I'm a huge Detroit Lions fan and having been complete garbage for so many years, it's nice to be coming off a playoff season last year. Unfortunately neither of our two issues were really helped, (running game and secondary), so I don't think the Lions will be able to go over their record last year which was 10-6. Especially with the tough divison we play in. Either way I'm looking forward to the new season. With a player like Calvin Johnson on our team, it's hard not to be excited. And props go out to Gstaff having a megatron jersey in his avatar.

I'm also a bit of Miami Dolphins fan because my good firend Jake Long from high school is the offensive lineman on the team.

Although I'm not as big of college football fan as I am of the NFL, I go to UoM so I'm rooting for Michigan and the Wolverines.

I'm an Atlanta Falcons fan, and GA Tech fan. But when I watch NFL football, I will root for anyone who is playing the Steelers I despise them because they are the biggest cheaters in football history, just watch the Top 10 most controversial calls four our of the ten were ones that helped the Steelers.

Can someone please explain to me how the NFL season works? All this summer all I've been hearing about are NFL games yet the Super Bowl is in Nov. or something.

The NFL season starts at the beginning or mid August with pre-season games, and the actual season starts this weekend, and goes until January which is when we have the playoffs, and the best team in both the NFC and AFC go to the Superbowl on the first week of February.

The season goes into the next year. Usually the teams that don't make the playoffs play their last game January 1st. The playoff teams keep playing until there are only two teams left and those two play in the Super Bowl in early February.

It's a 16 game season for 17 weeks. Each team gets a "bye" week meaning they get that week off thus making the regular season 17 weeks.

I like watching the NFL. I don't care that much attention to teams, I will watch whoever is playing. I will usually root for the Jets because they are one of my state's teams. Other teams I like are the Packers, Ravens and Panthers.

The same basically goes for college. Hopefully my Black Knights can win some more games this year.
