Thalmor Embassy question.

Post » Mon Sep 03, 2012 12:08 am

I have been wondering for quite some time.. If i make a high elf character and get to the point where i need to enter the embassy, will i then have any advantages - unique dialogs or maybe even being able to just walk around the house in the thalmor robes without them getting hostile?

Try it. You might be killed horrifically, or you might be able to walk around perfectly fine. Make sure you are wearing hooded Thalmor robes though. The set you find in the embassy don't have a hood so are useless. You'll have to bring your own set.

This. ^

I've heard that it works for a little while, but eventually you have to go somewhere where you're not supposed to be and it won't matter. Also, like he said: make sure they're hooded. :P

Thanks guys.. The reason why i ask, is because if we couldn't then i wouldn't make one. I am a svcker of unique dialogs and disguises/deception :P
Now that i know a tiny bit of it is possible, then i will give it a go. :)

If you wait a while someone will come across this thread who knows for sure how it goes, but I do know it's possible to an extent.

Well, during the quest Diplomatic Immunity, you're able to get through some parts without the guards getting hostile if you wear Hooded Thalmor robes. Not sure if it triggers any unique dialogue though

According to the wiki, if you're an Altmer, you'd supposedly get the opportunity to walk around with impunity in certain areas of the embassy if you're wearing Hooded Thalmor Robes. You supposedly even get a little unique dialogue option where you can tell a guard to leave his post. I say "supposedly" because I've never tried this myself, and I've yet to see anyone post for whom this has actually worked. Some people say it's bugged, and it doesn't work even for Altmer. Some people say that they didn't get Hooded Thalmor Robes as a dropped item, getting plain, unhooded Thalmor Robes (which won't work) instead. I seem to remember getting the correct version on at least one playthrough, but never tried using them (never played an Altmer).

However, once you get past a certain point in the embassy, everyone goes hostile on you no matter what your race, so in the end, the differences in this particular quest would be minor, and I don't know if there are enough unique dialogues in the entire game to justify using an Altmer character chiefly for that reason.

You could try searching YouTube; maybe someone has tried this and recorded the results.

Well if you're on the PC, you can by typing player.addfac 39F26 into the console.

My altmer actually says some unique attack dialogue after adding her to the Thalmor faction

Well butter my biscuit, you've finally met one!

You can fool a guard into leaving his post as you said. It's the one that guards the second building.

Perhaps it relies on your speech skill, though I'm not sure mine was particularly high during any of the times I've played that bit. I don't power game or use trainers so my skill would be about average for somebody who sells every single thing they find, even if it means I'm making journeys from cave to shop with nothing but pots... So in hindsight, yeah my speech skill probably was quite high!

Give Malborn hooded thalmor robe, along with matching gloves and boots and you can walk around most of the Embassy without hostility as an Altmer. The set available in the embassy is unhooded so it won't work.
