Mod Load Order?

Post » Tue Sep 04, 2012 3:21 am

First off I'd like to thank all those who replied to my post about recommended mods, much appreciated! Now, I keep reading about how important load order is. As a "noob" this is a bit scary :ooo: . How am i supposed to know which mods go where? I understand that BOSS can help, but according to the tutorial by"Gopher" it is only an aid and will not do the sorting for you. I don't want to download mods only to have them crash my game because mod"A" should be before mod "B". Any tips? :thanks:

BOSS will, in fact, do the sorting for you.

BOSS will sort your mods. The thing is, sometimes you want to override another mod and make a different combination than BOSS suggests, or use a mod that BOSS doesn't recognize (e.g your own). That's why it's important to know how load order works and why Gopher said it's only an aid. It's better to start small and learn how to sort mods manually, because BOSS is only a tool and isn't perfect.

That said, BOSS is still an invaluable tool and will sort the majority of mods correctly :)

For such cases, when a manual reordering is needed, BOSS' userlist is the best choice - as when you set your rule once, you can still run the BOSS and it will do your reordering automatically.
