I think I'm done with PC gaming, maybe hardcoe gaming all to

Post » Wed Sep 05, 2012 4:23 am

I just can't really justify spending so much on PC gaming anymore, what with most of the games I play available on consoles.
I'm not much of a graphics [censored]. If I'm on my couch and playing the game instead of sitting there and staring at the screen, it doesn't look that bad.
I know I won't be able to use mods. I think less naked anime-looking vampire chicks in my Bethesda games wouldn't be such a bad thing.

Maybe I'm just done with hardcoe gaming all together. I just don't seem to be entertained as much by 4 hour gaming sessions.
I'm currently getting more enjoyment out of playing my 3DS while I'm at the gym walking on a treadmill than sitting on my butt and staring at a screen all day.
Not to mention the enjoyment I get playing multiplayer games with my friends.

Maybe my priorities are just changing, I'll be in graduating soon and going off to college. All the games I play seem to blur into one and lately only really simple and, dare I say casual, games can hold my attention.
Lately I just think "ugh, I'm going to have to do the same thing but with a different texture on it" everytime I play games like Skyrim. Which saddens me a bit since I spent an ungodly amount of time playing Oblivion.

Fantasy books still hold my attention, I still adore shows like Doctor Who, I just don't know why "hardcoe" video games just aren't doing it for.

No matter what console I'm on, these kinds of games just don't appeal to me anymore. I'd much rather play a few matches of halo than spending a few hours grinding my smithing to make a sword thats %20 better. Even in that situation I'd rather just turn down the difficulty.

Uh...

Are we discussing you?
Our personal priorities?
PC gaming?
hardcoe gaming?

It would be nice if you specified what the actual topic is, as of right now it's mostly a blogpost.

for me it is PC first, portable second, console last in terms of my use :P

Somewhat sad that my PSP needs to be fixed due to some sort of power problem.

Still waiting for Atlus to announce some jrpgs.

I don't play games much anymore. That's not going to stop me from buying gaming PCs. It will probably extend the life of the computer I have now.

I want a high performance PC anyway. I multitask often enough, so it's worthwhile. If I pick compatible parts, then throw in an extra $300 for a graphics card to play games, it's a good investment. And I don't ever have to leave my chair

This is the first time I've ever seen somebody on this forum "quit" gaming in any form whatsoever. Thank you, I'd have never gotten through the morning without this breath of fresh air.

When I sold my gaming equipment I was in the same frame of mind as you, now I find myself bored out of my mind wishing I had something to entertain me.

Sure I'm more productive now, go to the gym everyday and all that but I miss the fun. I do however, save a ton of Money.

Argh... My urge to discuss the current state of PC gaming is overwhelming!

But I'd most likely just end up with another warning... :<

I don't even want to try to learn how to use a controller. I tried. I stink.
Mouse and keyboard all the way for me.

I was like that when I started gaming on the PC.
I was rubbish because I could never hit the right number key unless I looked at it, which usually meant it took to long to do the action I wanted.

I always end up completely rebinding the hotkeys for most games, the numbers keys are usually too far away for my preferences :3

QWEASDZXC and < (left of Z) are my most common bindings other than the obvious shift, control etc.

I bought a gaming controller for use with a Digital Audio Workstation, and have the buttons bound to different functions. Play, Record, Rewind to Beginning, Stop....&c.
That way, I can control the computer alone in the vocal booth (closet under stairs) for instance.

Too much finesse seems to be required to use one for gaming so I'll stick to PC.
I tried RDR on my son's PS3. I died real quick. I quit. I realize it takes a little practice, but BAH.
