some of my problems with skyrim and Roleplaying...

Post » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:04 am

First off i'm on ps3, no I'm not complaining about lack of DLC. I have morrowind on computer, and i have some mods, but no matter what, in any Elder scrolls game, i can't seem to find a good roleplaying character. I can't do what i want. I want to be a farmer, i can't, i can pretend, but it's not the same. I can't be a propriater of a business like i would like. I can't be a nobody. does anyone else find that annoying? you can pretty much only be an adventurer. i mean sure you could be a nobody but due to lack of... normal life aspects such as owning a busness and what not, i find the roleplay does not last long.

Any ideas how to fix that? again on console so no mods. i know this is a weird thread. i've tried a hunter class, mage, scholar, peasent, but they all lead to adventuring. and the other ones don't last longer then an hour before their boring.

Play the Sims?

All of the promotional artwork, and every video leading up to Skyrim's release involved a a big dirty nord in an iron helm wielding an axe, dragons breathing fire, exploring a magnificent landscape, and inappropriate relations with a certain Argonian Maid.

Hearthfire is going to add with some of this domestic type stuff, but Skyrim is a medieval fantasy action/adventure/RPG, not The Sims, or Harvest Moon, or SimCity 1400. Its like complaining and asking why doesn't Gear of War have a dating sim built into it?

well yeah i know it's action and adventure, it's just i'm sure that back then not every guard would give one liners. I'm sure there were bar fights, murders. havn't you noticed that ever single person in skyrim is a good persom. i'm speaking normal people like nezeem. they murder people... it's dull. the atmosphere is dull.

Well that's what ES games are about: being an adventurer. Roleplaying an adventurer. There's a lot of roleplay room when you play the game as an adventurer. Inns, houses, food, camps, ale, a lot of deep lore to draw from. But, just playing a normal citizen, yeah that can be interesting for a little while, but the adventuring is the meat of the game. Most high fantasy fiction is about some sort of adventuring.
