Strange sleeping effect

Post » Wed Sep 05, 2012 7:44 pm

Okay so does anyone else have trouble sleeping a few days before the full moon, during the full moon, and then a day or two after the full moon? Seriously does anyone else experience this or are me and my mother just freaks of nature because both of us can hardly sleep during full moons.

My extensive medical knowledge of sleep disorders says you're a werewolf.

To be honest, I don't follow the lunar cycle that closely. Whenever I'm out at night, I do notice the moon, but when I get back home and go to bed, I'm hardly thinking about it. There are nights where I can't sleep, but there doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. I can't exactly correlate it to the moon, so I guess I can neither confirm, nor deny that this happens to me. I guess I'll keep an eye out next time.

Close, but no cigar. I wouldn't post this thread asking if anyone else experiences this if I was a werewolf, how much sense does that make.

Thanks. It is strange because it is only me and my mother, my sister and step dad do not experience this. My mother doesn't experience it as bad as me, but that is because I have insomnia anyway, full moons just make it worse.

Only when my curtains are open and the full moon is shining brightly on my face. This may just be my laziness kicking in, who knows :P

I don't sleep in the moonlight, I have blinds that are closed, it is the actual presence of the full moon that jacks up my sleep. But your laziness may be another explanation...

Sounds like you are indeed a werewolf. Perhaps there is something you relate too here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_disorder Though maybe not, completely stumped to be honest. Is it complete incapacity to sleep then? or are you able to get a few hours? How do you know it is always near a full moon, did you check?

Seriously consider if you have gotten more hairy during these times, have you awakened next to a dead chicken with blood all over your bedroom?

Try sleeping with a pillow over your head... it muffles the sound of the silver bullets.

I could swear on my grave I am not a werewolf, I do show signs of it, but I am not one. And my mom says it has something to do with the full moon pulling on the body more since apparently the moon affects water, and our body is 70% water. Trust me it is only during full moons because I can tell when one is coming up since I start to go days with only like an hour of sleep, and when I check a calendar for the full moon sure enough it is full moon.

I am hairy to begin with, damn genetics...

Damn Frodo why'd you have to beat me to the werewolf joke. Dmei, are you experiencing heightend senses, do you find yourself throwing up partially eaten animals, maybe a preference for doggystyle sixually? Totally legitimate questions. How are you around silverware...

My laziness is my explanation for all that is wrong with my life hahaha.

By the way, I may be stealing your Lego idea as an Avatar, but with my favorite villain instead

:lmao: Okay, well first it is dmel with an L not an i. Second, again I already have a good sense of smell from genetics, damn my father for that and the hairiness, and I don't throw up animals, I hardly ever throw up. I refuse to answer the third question, *cough yes cough* I kid, I won't answer that question. And I can touch silverware. How does not being able to sleep on full moons automatically make me a werewolf?

Maybe it's just too bright out to sleep?

My room has really pathetic curtains and during the summer it can get *very* bright at night when a full moon is out.

My laziness is a problem as well for me. And go ahead, I just wanted a Nightwing picture and happened to like this lego one. You should see if Dalek will feather a picture for you he is really good at that and did mine. Seriously, how he does that is beyond me.

No my blinds are shut so that the light doesn't shine in, my room is practically pitch black.

Well, I just took mine, through it on Paint, and went at it. This started with a white Background, I did it purple. I guess I'll take it and make it fit with the forums background later right now im too lazy and trying to play DCUO

And I'm fine with my laziness honestly but my mom on the other hand...

Don't look too closely at my Avatar :ermm:

It's probably just a subconscious thing, since the full moon doesn't have an effect on the human body.

I've heard of this, but I have no knowledge on whether there's actually something to it

EDIT: Make it an experiment, and publish your findings! Record sleep patterns for moon cycles. Although, you might be biased...

Well, for the record your mom's wrong on that part; just because the moon has more light shining on it an an angle we can see doesn't mean it's closer to us and its gravitational pull is stronger as a result. :P

I'm gonna chalk it up to you causing it yourself. You think about it, and end up causing yourself to stay up later as a result, kinda like how, when you're trying to fall asleep, actually thinking about sleep, or the time, will end up keeping you up longer.

The position of the moon actually does affect the tides, but not in the same way it affects us.

I know that? What I'm saying is that a full moon versus a new moon does not affect us [meaning the entire planet] gravitationally. That's just light.

The moon's phase is its position relative to the sun, not relative to the Earth.

The full moon and the new moon have the most effect because the sun and the moon are in alignment at those times.
