Want a Freakin Divorce in Skyrim

Post » Thu Sep 06, 2012 2:03 am

I really need this and if you do a search, a lot other think like me! See I married Mjoll a while back, but I want to marry Muiri now. You guys really should either take off Mjolls essential glitch after you marry her or better yet, add a divorce option to all marry-able people!

For the love of God, I hate having mjoll as my wife. The only reason I married her was so I wouldn't lose her as a follower when I wanted to become a werewolf. Now I want Muiri of the dark brotherhood. She is much more compatabe to me. Just listen to these other people who want a divorce/ not married to mjoll:

There are hundreds, even thousands of skyrim fans who want this. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please follow if you feel the same.

Divorce would be nice, or better yet, having the ability to have mistresses set up in other houses.

Wise men say only fools rush in.

Not interested in this at all. I just want more people to choose from for marriage, the characters not to lose their personalities when they get married, and for their to be more to marriage than an experience booster and free monies.

I believe I came across a mod that would make the ceremony more immersive at least. If you've completed various quests some different people would show up. Like college of winterhold you get one or two mages attending the ceremony and some magical decoration. It doesn't quite do what you have in mind though.

Not as easy as you make it out to be. I kept telling her to place her hands on the pylon but she kept telling me she has a headache.

Just so you know, you're gonna hear "Thank you again for resolving my... problem" over and over and over again.

Not sure why Divorce was not offered, but it is not.

You can always start a new character to marry someone else.

What about for Hearthfire? If you lost your spouse, there has to be a way to get a new one considering all the "home" features...

From the UESP:

Steps to re-marry using console commands:

- Select spouse.
- Enter the following console commands:
removefac 51596
player.removefac C6472
resetquest 74793
resetquest 21382
setstage 74793 10
- Wait for 24 hours. Then proceed to marry as normal.

I bet many wish it could be as simple in real life...

I've said this before. Divorce was heavily frowned upon back then, unlike today where everybody basically does it. The temple of kynareth should never let you marry, and that's that.

...you realize you're saying that about an universe where there are as many girl warriors as there are men, right?

Short reply: Rules are different in Nirn, and Earth medieval times' ones doesn't necessarely apply.

You can obtain a "divorce" by snuffing your spouse easily enough, if you're sufficiently vile to do so. But you can't marry again.
