Pure Magicka Perk Tree

I mentioned this in another thread, but I wanted your thoughts. Normally in ES games, I played a warrior or a non-mage assassin character. I got hooked on the mage play style in Oblivion. The Arcane University had a true scholarly feel in the sense that you can craft your own customized spells (assuming you have enough magicks to cast them  ) and staves.

Fast forward to Skyrim. The College quest line began well enough and had great potential.
Spoiler
I was happy that we had to participate in a actual lesson. Yet, the devs removed our ability to create spells and staves. Even the Arcaneum was disappointing. The books in the library are ones that you can find elsewhere in the game.
My point is that Magery in Skyrim has lost that scholarly-learning-the-arcane feel.

What I would like to see is a DLC that adds a true magicka crafting perk tree. Enchanting bridges the gap between mage and non-mage playstyles, so it is not exclusively a mage skill tree like Vampirism is to Vampires. One branch can consist of perks focused on spell crafting and another branch can consist of staff crafting.

Would anyone else like to see something like this? It seems feasible since Dawnguard included two new perk trees.

I would love something like this, as it would reintroduce spell-crafting, and would have the potential to really balance it out. I found crafting spells in Morrowind and Oblivion to be either overpowered (charm 100 pts. 3 seconds, for example), or too much magicka/gold cost for what you got. If done right, this would be very welcome, in my opinion.

I totally agree with you about balance. Perks can be designed to contain their own inherent limitations and would be, of course, level-dependent.
