Rogue Build - Looking for Feedback

Post » Fri Sep 07, 2012 12:03 pm

I'm working on a rogue build and would appreciate any feedback from those with experience. This is the first time I've played as a rogue, usually preferring a warrior, and I have to say I'm enjoying it thoroughly.

I’m still pretty early on with the character. I started the game and went straight to the Thieves Guild. I’m almost finished with their main quest-line. I’m currently employing the use of sneak, backstabs, daggers, and bow combat.

I’m planning on doing a non-magical and non-crafting build except for the tempering of weapons and armor I find.

This is the plan through 50 - http://skyrimcalculator.com/185602
Here is 50 and beyond - http://skyrimcalculator.com/185603

I’d like to know if anyone else has gone this route and enjoyed it throughout most of game?

Looking at the Up to Level 50 mainly, since I never play past that level anyway...

I like that you didn't focus on the crafting skills. Good job.

I would add Savage Strike as that bonus is pretty nice, especially if you plan on using a lot of power attacks while in Melee.

I would add Bulls-Eye when you get to it.

You need to have a reason to Pick-Pocket and gold shouldn't be it. Honestly you will have more gold than you know what to do with in no time. Now being able to poison someone, or remove their weapons ... now that's something.

You don't really need 5/5 in the stealth perk, one is plenty at least for me it is.

Agreed. I've done both and never really noticed a difference.

Dual-wielding daggers for melee combat seems cool.
And what Standing Stone did you activated? I'll recommend Lady Stone (increase your health and stamina regen, great for much power-attacking or zooming with bow) or Lord Stone (for additional defense & magic resistance)

Thanks for the suggestions! For pick-pocket I wasn't sure if I'd need increased treasure find for better weapons, since I won't be crafing. From what I've done so far it looks like most decent weapons come from quest rewards.

I'll have to check out reverse pickpocketing poisons. Sounds pretty awesome!

Warrior right now. I'm trying to level up one- handed since sneak an archery are over 50.

I have been using a lot of stamina zooming and power-backstabbing so the lady stone maybe a good fit.

@moderate use

This looks very similar to my very first Skyrim character, except that he did not perk archery but perked smithing instead. Its a solid build.

I agree with the others above. You don't need more than one point in Stealth. No crafting perks (other than Arcane Smithing) is a nice way to go. Savage Strike is a good addition.

I too take the Extra Pockets with many of my characters because I like to carry more. Some of the other pickpocket perks are fun. I like the one that lets me pickpocket equipped weapons because my roguish Khajiit likes to use Scimitars, which are hard to find, but you can pickpocket them from those redguard dudes without having to kill them. I dual wield them with one Scimitar enchanted with paralysis and one with soul trap. I haven't perked enchant so the enchantments are not very strong but I like to paralyze every now and again and the soul trap keeps the paralysis Scimitar charged.
