How to protect yourself from dragons?

Post » Sun Sep 09, 2012 1:05 am

So i'm experimenting with magic protection enchants, but now im looking into wards. How does a ward effect a dragons elemental breath attacks?

What are some options for protecting yourself against magic? I dot kow much about wards and stone/ebony/etc-flesh spells.

Wards protect against magic, but without perks they spend an awful lot of magicka. Best protection against dragons would be

1. Stay out of their breath ;)
2. Enchantments: Resist Fire, Resist Frost, Resist Magic
3. Potions with resist frost/fire - collect lots of snowberries that protects against both, and combine with one ingresient against fire and one against frost, that way you get a nice combo-potion you can down even before you know which breath the dragon will use. Combine with Resist magic potions.

Stoneflesh and a ward on top of that, and some ranged magic or a staff, and you'll be fine. Even better with a follower. (I love it when dragons attack at the CoW courtyard. Once I didn't even have time to attack it myself before it was dead, killed by three wizards and their summons. )

awesome tips! Im mostly a warrior style, but i wanted to mix things up a bit.

my god... i combined, snowberries, moosugar, and fire salts O_O I discovered 8 effects and it reads:

Magica regen 184% faster for 300 seconds
Resist 110% frost for 60 seconds
Resist 110% fire for 60 seconds
Restore 230 points of magica

My sword 'n' board Nord uses Spellbreaker, as it casts a 50 point ward when blocking. Also, the Alteration tree has a perk than raises magic resist by 10% and can be taken 3 times. The temple quest in Riften, 'The Book of Love', grants the 'Agent of Mara' perk for another 15% magic resist. Finally, the Lord's Stone ability adds 25% magic resist. The Block tree also has a perk that reduces incoming damage from fire, frost, and shock while blocking by 50%.

She first fought Mirmulnir and nearly died 3 times in the process. After getting Spellbreaker, Sahloknir was a pushover.

I'm sure you've seen the comercial where the dragonborn is fighting the dragon and simply uses his shield to protect himself from it's fire breath? This is the best way to do it ingame.

2. Enchantments: Resist Fire, Resist Frost, Resist Magic
This. ^

I only have 2 characters and they're both Nord non-Mages. They both Smith and Enchant. The standard enchantments on their Mage and Dragon fighting gear (relevant to your question) are:

Boots: Resist Fire + Resist Shock
Ring: Resist Magic + Resist Frost
Necklace: Resist Fire + Resist Shock

Quasi-Relevant:
Body: Fortify Healing Rate + Fortify Stamina Regen

Edited to correct a "Resist".
