Imperial City
by GrandDukeAdense

Let me begin by explaining that this thread does not automatically mean that I will actually finish this. Or release it. It all depends on how I feel and how things go. I started this project just for fun, to see if I could build something with more "Oblivion-style", rather than the dull and nordic crap environment of Skyrim (no offense Skyrim, but there ain't much bright and shiny going on there ^^) I have other projects going on as well, so the fate of this one depends on what possibilities gets presented.

As of right now, I'm building this with vanilla resources + 3 custom made textures that have been used to retexture a few things from within the CK. I'm also building it in a separate worldspace. This is where the reason for my thread creation appears. I was thinking, that maybe I should consider being a little more serious with this? Maybe actually make it playable. Perhaps I should even add a storyline? Now, if I am going to be a bit more serious with this, perhaps I will need some help to finalize it. Because honestly, there will probably be several difficult stages involved if I mean to make this release-able. And honestly, I probably svck to much to be able to pull those things off all by myself!

One thing is the Tamriel Heightmap Collaboration thingy (can someone please link me to that, I can not for the world remember what they call themselves). If I'm going to release this and make the whole Imperial City, I might as well put it somewhere useful (like on the island where it's supposed to be)! I have no idea how working on this collaboration heightmap works. I don't even know if there is a "Cyrodiil Remade" project... So if anyone is interested in helping me with this, or directing me to someone who can, that would be awesome and fairly nice of you!!

Another thing is quests, scripts and dialogue. I can do it myself. But the story will probably be bad. The scripts would be bad. And the dialogue wouldn't be.. whats the word.. good. I'm not really in the stages of actually creating quests (first order of business would be to put the city in the correct worldspace). However, it would be nice if someone with a legit English vocabulary and with reasonable sense of plotlines felt like HEY I want to help create a main quest for this city.

My personal idea of an Imperial City Main Quest would be mostly politics. Some backstabbing? I have put the Elder Council (including the Emperor, but he's gonna have to disappear.. due to certain other quests) in there.. so they should be used. There's a Synod and College of Whispers... perhaps they are not very good friends? And maybe they mess with each other at the Arcane University? Which, by they way, I have not yet created. The Thalmor could obviously be around to mess things up as well. My preliminary High Chancellor is a High Elf (and Thalmor pawn?) So there's lots of room for plot things!

Now I'm done talking. I've said what I think needs to be done if this is to be properly released someday. Any ideas, suggestions, helpful helpers, fans, haters (constructive ones), lore-masters, etc, are welcome to post whatever they like. The more feedback I get, the better. The more help I get, the better.. and so on, you get it

Also, I brought some screenshots, and videos! Enjoy!

(Most, if not all, of this will have to change drastically, because it's all very hastily put together, and I'm not happy with it)

Even if you do release it, how will it work with Skyrim? a trip to the city like Moonpath?

Yeah there is a team remaking Cyrodill for Skyrim, you should make a thread and talk about your mod, Im sure that they will help you.

Here is the link. http://www.darkcreations.org/forums/forum/206-travel-to-cyrodiil/

I like the design of the city but maybe it needs some new textures, and maybe another kind of flora, but I really love the design, nice job!

I agree that the textures need some work. I can tell you're going for a very different style than that which was presented in Oblivion, but the building textures seem a bit too simple in some lights. I would suggest adding some gain or throwing some cracks through the walls. Feel free to ignore this, though, because I would totally use this as-is. Great work!

Well done this looks amazing. Despite the obvious things people could point out to improve, like the textures, the work that's clearly gone into this is outstanding

EDIT: By the way what's the song in the Video?
